Any owners on here?

What have I let myself in for

Just dealt and never driven one, how bad can it be.

Does anyone know what the Front Seat Passenger Entertainment Pack is?

Definitely someone on PH with one but I can't recall his name. Have a search in reader's rides.

Are you saying you just bought one without seeing or driving it? Either a very brave or foolish move if you haven't bought it from a Mercedes main dealer.

Seen not driven. But I don’t think I’ve ever driven a car that I’ve bought.

I’m easily pleased. Never been disappointed

If you get the tuning bug that model is easily tuned. One of the members on the MBClub UK forum has nearly 700 BHP with his CL63 5.5.
Might be worth joining that owners forum as there are a lot of very helpful, knowledgable people on there who will be able to answer every question you're probably wanting to ask.
Lovely cars.

Thanks Birma
Do you have to be a member of the MB club?

I can't join yet another club frown

Has the forum become for organised in so much as it has sub headings for various models? Used to be hard to navigate

I note on there you have a 65, good work that man.

Only one I could find was an earlier black car.

I see you've fitted Vossen wheels. I have been looking at Vossen.Looks like you stuck to 20"? are they wider and do the rears at least have concave spokes?

No that's the official Mercedes Club, the forum I was referring to is forums.mbclub.co.uk there is a section for AMG cars there that is well populated and has a fair few CL63 owners.

Good low mileage CL65's are thin on the ground (only 23 registered in the UK) by all accounts the late low mileage one for sale recently sold in 2 hours.
I've just had the Renntech lowering module fitted too so it sits a bit lower than the photo. I was a bit overcautious with the Vossens and kept to 20's the rears are concave. People think they are 22 due to the spoke design. Here is a photo prior to the lowering module being fitted.

Looks good. Have you got a shot down the side showing the concave angle.

Interested to see you went for the lowering module as opposed to the link bars. What benefit is there to the module?

I'm planning on taking some new photo's of the car to update my Readers Cars thread so I'll post some up as soon as I take them.

I was at a car show and a chap turned up in a CL and it just lowered itself right down which I thought was really good (I'm easily amused) so I asked what and how and found out it was the Renntech unit.

The unit can be adjusted via a tablet/phone and as standard it lowers the car enough to give it a better stance, plus like the standard car it still lowers the car at a certain speed.
Another reason was that I usually sell my cars after a year of ownership so if the new owner doesn't like the Vossens or the module I can have them removed and sell them on elsewhere.
Although the car has impressed me so much I've had it just over a year and can't think of anything else I like or want to replace it.

The CL AMG's have vented seats which some people don't rate but I do, if you set the air-con on recirculate and have the seat vents on full it makes a long journey on a very hot day a pleasure. I did a 400 mile round trip in the searing heat recently and did the first 200 miles in one go and got out the other end like it had been a trip to the shops. The standard sound system isn't too shabby either.
In sport mode for a big car they are surprisingly agile, there is a stretch of A road I've been using for many years and have taken every motorbike and car I've ever owned along this road as a sort of test of it's capability.
Until recently I had a track prepared VX220 Turbo and it went through the series of s bends (always on the correct side of the road) rather nicely. I'd only had the CL a few weeks but did the same section and it was only about 10 MPH slower.

Prior to my CL I had a Phaeton that could do long journeys with ease, the CL does that too but with that bit of an edge for the odd moment that may arise when a bit more oomph is required.

I bought my 2012 CL63 18 months ago and simply love it. Has all the goodies including TV and split screen had 21k on the clock when I bought it now on 24 k. I can thoroughly recommend them. Goes like stink when you want but cruises quietly when you are in a more relaxed mood and are great value if you can find a good one.

Gratuitous picture
