SL55

Have test driven the time machine that is the SL55 and am trying to decide whether I should take the plunge for a used one, having just come out of a Porsche 996.

Would appreciate views on them as an ownership proposition from those who have one. Sell it to me!!

Thanks guys - my budget is upto about £60K so that's about 03 SL55 territory. I agree its a totally different driving experience to the Porsche but feel ready for something different and as you all point out the combination of performance and open top/fixed top motoring is pretty much unrivalled.

Given price new, am hoping that financially the SL55 might not be too bad a place to be if I get into one that is a couple of years old, as the depreciation curve must have eased off.

With the gizmos turned off, if you are pushing hard in a corner, do you get progressive understeer that becomes oversteer or is it a bit more brutal than that? Would be keen to take mine on trackdays!
