I appreciate you will need lots more detail but a friend with a Alfa 156 (other details not known) regrettably fell asleep at the wheel. Came to, swerved, lost it up a bank, into some road signs and then rolled it twice. The roll was front end over not onto it's side!

He came out without a scratch! Exceedingly lucky however you can imagine the state of the car.

All that is left of value is the engine. By all acounts it was a brand new engine fitted to it, has all the receipts etc that demonstrate this and the fact that it has only done very limited miles since fitting. I believe it is less than 5000 miles but need to check.

He has a recovery charge on the vehicle to pay and can, if he wishes remove the engine for resale.

Excuse my ignorance, and i know it may depend on what engine it is, but is it worth it?

Assuming his insurance company is paying out, don't they own the wreck and its engine?

Sorry did not make it clear. Car insured TPF & T only. Insurance has no interest in vehicle.
