Considering a huge variety of different dailies currently and I keep coming back to 159 wagons, mainly as even now they are simply stunning things to look at - There’s a lot of talk of fairly bad mpg out there for these cars due to the high weight mainly, what is the concensus regarding economy for the 1.9 vs the 2.0 JTDM engines? I’m mostly concerned about economy on a long motorway run rather than town driving or short journeys.

Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Not sure about the mpg, but when I drove a couple back to back earlier this week. It’s the 2.0l you need.
Why do you say so Les? Interested in your insight from back to back drives

Thanks Mondie - do you have experience of this? If so which particular map? And would that apply to the Q4 2.4D too?

Not surprisingly, the type of journey has a huge effect on mpg. My youngest son had a 159SW 1.9 Jtd for three or four years. He could easily hit mid 50s mpg on his very easy 30-mile commute, but it could easily drop to high 20s for prolonged local driving. His average over 92 tanks was 38mpg

It is a pretty heavy car and acceleration from standstill really hurts fuel consumption. Cruising at a steady 60-ish in traffic will return amazing figures

Regardless of the consumption, it’s still a good-looking way of getting around. Quite wheel-sensitive though - Ti wheels are best.
Thanks for the insight - Definitely agree it’s a great looking car in Ti spec ... The car will mostly be used for long cruises so that’s some reassuring info - My wife has a Leaf which is perfect for short local stuff.

Bought myself a 1.9, right price and so far at least the right car ... yes it’s not going to win any drag races but that’s the last reason I bought the car ... I have my Clio 172 for tearing around at high revs should the mood take me.

Just considering a economy remap now and the DPF mod but the range of differing opinions out there on the latter makes it very confusing. I’d love to go ahead with it but not if i’m going to have problems come MOT time.
