We're off to Austria for a late skiing holiday. Torn between our 4 wheel drive Audi and the QF.

A good long run on the German autobahns would give us the chance to give
the QF plenty of beans en route, but the Audi with 4WD, roof rack etc would make a lot of sense.

It's clearly a heart versus brain choice. What should I go for ?

What a banal question.
I'm taking your comment to mean " trite, unoriginal or lacking in imagination ", rather than the medieval French meaning of obligatory service in the feudal militia.

By the bye, may we assume that you own both the cars in question ? In which case it is only to be expected that you might see my question as having the first meaning. If you own neither, then my query still stands...................or perhaps you have just never been skiing ?

I own neither car, however would happily own either car and I have at least been in both. So from a guy who doesn't own either car;

I would take the Alfa because it would feel a bit more special to me, but the S4 if practicality was more important.

HTH what an cool problem to have!
Thank you, amigo. Yours was just the sort of helpful response I had hoped to receive from enthusiastic fellow forum members.
I do think that you are right. Practicality is more important on a skiing trip.
Ciao.

Asking complete strangers which of your cars you should drive?

No-one can answer that except you.

Weird thing to ask IMO.
Asking the opinions of others in a motoring forum as to the relevance of two cars re a certain task is only weird when others, such as yourself, attach spurious motives to the question. And since you have nothing constructive to add, it is surely weird that you bother to expend so much effort in in responding with so little usefulness. A case of all mouth but no trousers, perhaps ?

I don't know Roseanne, be they he, she or it, but I find these threads tremendously entertaining in a number of ways. Roseanne certainly has the skin of a rhinoceros, whether that be actually or metaphorically I couldn't say.

That reminds me that my Suzuki Vitara, 2005 vintage adorned with Rhino badge, would have to be my vehicle of choice for scooting up and down those snowy Alpine passes. Switchable 4x4, low range and 94bhp, allegedly, Tea tray toboggan rather than those retro ski things,oh what fun.
I'll let the negative comments posted by others pass over my head, and say only that amusing comments such as those re the Vitara make it all worthwhile. Unfortunately most of my posts often generate somewhat vituperative responses ( even doubting what gender I am ! ), whereas all I wish is to submit posts that elicit responses, hopefully constructive.

As for my skin being like a rhino's, being a beef farmer's wife it gets a regular coating of the same lanolin emollient that Hubby rubs all over the cows's udders.......they like it, and so do I, and from the frequency that Hubby gets the lanolin tub out, he ain't too unhappy about it either !
