Hi - about to need my second set of tyres. Stuck Corsas back on last February, but with winter around the corner, planning to swap for the Pilot Sport 4S.

Toyed with it last Feb, but very few runners had tried them so stuck with what I knew....but I know there are now a few QFs that have had them for a few months....thoughts/experiences?

Dry/Wet. Steering feel/feedback?

TIA!

4 degrees Celsius last night and no skipping with the PS4S. Also no traction issues from cold whereas the Corsas, even in 12 degrees Celsius would slide all over the place until they warmed up.
This is what I don't always understand....I get bad skipping in cold, wet weather. But I've never had them 'sliding all over the place', even last winter in sub-zero.

Still, set on going PS4S now. Did you go 245 or 255 up front?

Having a 255 option in my opinion is pointless. If it's cheaper for 255s then that's a plus, but performance wise they'll be a tad negative on a rwd car due to the additional movement in the front tyre under heavy cornering. The negatives won't be noticeable to the everyday driver but they've definitely got no bonuses over the 245 tyres.

As for the rear, performance wise you're actually best to go for the 275 width as they measure closer to the Pirelli Corsa 285s. The 295 is more like 300 in comparison. But, having tracked both tyres the 295 is impeccable and my choice over the Corsas every time.
255s are cheaper, but only by a fiver so negligible.

The argument I was given for the 255 is to keep the ratio the same as the rears.

Just a heads up that Michelin are doing one of their money back offers on 17/18/19 inch Michelins at the mo - so you can budget for £25 off quoted price per corner if you go for PS4s..

Not much good for my Fulvia HF but just done the deal on the wife's SLK...

Roughly what's the damage for a full set of PS4s then for a QV? Looking at buying one shortly and happy to invest in a new set of tyres as taking it easy on the Pirellis all through a British winter would be deeply frustrating.
I've got £187 for fronts, £256 for rears then minus £100 from Michelin. Corsas are about the same money (I got 4 for just over £900 in March)

You can get the PS4s marginally cheaper, but I couldn't find a source that will qualify for the £100 back. There are also a scarce number of the rears available currently.

£820 for a set of PS4S (not PS4).

Look for Ben Patey on Facebook
Interesting. Is he an official stockist? i.e., to get the £100 back from Michelin?

And is that fitted etc? (and where?)

I could get for £790 from a non-official stockist, or £783 mail order.

As it is, it'll end up costing me £786 for the 4 tyres, and they are fitted by a stockist 200yrds from my office.
