Not sure how active these forums are for Alfa’s but have bought this little beauty and figured no harm in gaining some knowledge around the marque.

Always wanted an Alfa but wanted to dip my toe in first and at least get a car that’s been fully sorted and also wanted something relatively rare.

I know it’ll cost to run but it won’t be doing many miles in my ownership so with the restoration it’s had I’m hoping it’ll be relatively cheap fun.
Yes there be some niggles as it’s a Alfa but let’s hope the charm out ways any hassles.

I know these cars divide opinion but I just fell for this little Beauty .

Any advice / tips / thoughts good or bad gratefully received.

I’ve already been called “ brave” for buying her !

Tks all.

I tend to go for cars built in low numbers just so they tend to hold value well .

I’m not looking to make money on this car but to add it with my R26R which again is a rare thing.

Point taken on the regular GTV and adding upgrades but this caught my eye for all that had Been done to it .

The mechanical photos say it all I think.

Can’t wait to pick her up will update the thread this evening but I’m excited to own my first Alfa having bought beetles for many years

Sorry for being an arse, I misread and thought you were looking!!!

I’m sure you will love it they are so full of character and style!
Haha no problem as I said in my OP all comments gratefully received.

This afternoon should prove a fun journey home.

Spoke in length to the seller after I'd bought it who's a true enthusist and still owns another cup plus a 4c so I'll always have a point of reference with him I'm sure.

Have joined the Alfa owners group on FB and so far so good .

Feel free to check out all the pics of the car on the link I full detail especially the mechanicals.
That's what drew me in as previously I've shy' away from alfas expecting trouble and heart ache .

I've always wanted an Alfa and for me ( subjective) it's a beautiful looking car

Once again tks all

Wow i'm in love!

The car is amazingly mint and in some regards reminds me of the old 355 i once owned like the driving position .
I'm used to hard GT cars and this is nothing like but its still nicely compliant.

Great weather to collect it today, i had ( yes) narrow deck shoes, Bermuda shorts , a short and shades and i was in my element .
Maybe a little bit of Matt Monroe playing would have set the scene perfectly!

As my name would suggest i've been into hard core beetles for some years but today this was just perfect .

Can't thank the seller enough as the car is unbelievably well maintained and he's a true enthusiast. The underside of the car is spotless, the sills are in great nick and man that engine bay !

The interior is just so beautiful too.

I'm not handy with a spanner so im reassured that the car is in such good shape but i fully expect some niggles.

Many tks all all advice will be welcome.

The V6 is much more robust that than the TS - i used mine daily for a couple of years.

Problems are well known by now and the fixes readily available, just keep an eye on the usual suspects - even the less than reliable Meta alarms can be sorted. Only part i've had difficulty sourcing recently was a brake compensator valve so if you do see one grab it, just in case !
The seller did tell me about the difficult of getting parts.

I’ll find a local specialist and use them when it comes to service and repair .

He has painstakingly sought original parts for the car so I’m hoping I can keep it as well as he has .

Miss my old 355 as well now !

Many tks

Weather looking pretty good for Sunday so might take her for a run to the coast.

Very different car to drive for me given I’m generally used to pretty hard riding cars.

Fair to say the car is in exceptional order.
The only short term consideration is the Tyres as although they have plenty of tread left they are old and I can hear how hard they have now become when I’m driving if that makes sense.

They’ll do for the remainder of this year though

Hi All only just seen the thread.

Great to hear from another bidding on the night of the auction and and a previous owner.
Small world for these cars eh!

The Wife also loves the Alfa so I’m hopeful of some good times ahead.

The last owner had her for just 18 months and commissioned all the work that’s details in the description.
A true Alfa enthusiast.

There is nothing the car needs other than maybe some new tyres at some stage as they are a little old but have tread.

I see myself doing a small amount of miles per year and just enjoying the ownership part of admiring the car and my first Alfa.

I’ll try and keep the thread updated

It’s funny as it’s one of those cars I always look back at when I’ve parked her up which is always a god sign.

Thanks all

I have a GTV Cup with 35k miles. I test drove it and bought it last year. It is a proper coupe and not a three door saloon. No horrible sat nav screen dating the dashboard. Sounds terrific and is full of character. I hope you enjoy it.
Many tks

You’re likely to knew more about these cars than me .

What made you buy the Cup?

I literally spotted my car with 35 minutes left to go on the auction and bought it .

I was a little apprehensive as I know very little about these but here horror stories with Alfa’s.

My thinking during the little time I had was that it was fully restored and judging by the detailed pictures in outstanding condition plus I like low production number cars for resale and potentially investment.

Hi,

I have a GTV Cup with 35k mikes which I am
Going to sell. I was thinking about selling on collecting cars. Can you tell me about your experience? What was the fees or charges? How much does the seller pay?

They are lovely cars. I am only selling mine because I have no room for it anymore and it is too low for my driveway. It is nerve wracking taking it out the drive lol.
I bought the car through CC’s and the process was dead easy .

My car has had a 5k spend so drives perfectly so nothing bad to report.

They do full pictures and a full appraisal which is all detailed in the listing.

The pics cost the seller £150 with nothing more to pay.

In my experience it’s car enthusiast that buy cars from their site so no dealing with the usual tyre kicking idiots.

If your car is up to standard then my advice is to use them

After missing out on the one on collectingcars.com which GT3Manthey got, I managed to nab this one:
https://themarket.co.uk/en/listings/alfa-romeo/gtv...

Collected on Wed and drove all the way back to Yorkshire from Oxford without drama. Lovely car and impressed with the accurate description on themarket.co.uk.
I saw that go through and with those miles I honestly think you did very well price wise. I’d argue that the seller might have gotten more on CC’s and also wouldn’t have paid and commission.

Is there anything needs doing to the car ?

Congrats BTW

It needs a cambelt which I'm getting done next week at an Alfa specialist. They will do a mechanical inspection while it's there, but judging by my 200 drive back and looking underneath the car everything seems in good order.

It's clearly had a respray at some point so the paintwork is good. The alloys and brake calipers need a refurb if I want it perfect. The interior is in superb condition.

All in all, I'm very happy.
Very glad to here it.

My alloys are borderline needing a refurb but it’s a tricky job to get them right so I’ll leave them for now.

It’s a cool car to drive on a summers day
