2017 FK8 Type R
Discussion
The Evora Ive recently purchased was very short lived! Just annoying issues in a very short space of time, moving forward, I don't think I would trust the car. Also, the more I used it, I don't think it would get used, with the child seat in the back, and other half in the front. Not one of my finest purchases.
Researching what sensible, but fun car to drive, I settled on the FK8 Type R, I had read so many good things about the car, and didn't want a double clutch or 4wd, as I've done that. I felt this could be it. This one is in rallye red, 1 owner, with just over 11000 miles. Yes, it's absurd looking thing, but It makes me smile seeing it on the drive, and it looks different than most things out there, I must be one of the few who likes the looks.. Reactions all seem positive so far though.
Ive only been for one drive to the shops and back, but it seems a fantastic tgi g to drive, lots of steering feel, and in sport or comfort mode it absorbs the bumps in the Road brilliantly, it has a great driving position and really does feel quick, with normal driving, it seems to be returning 35mpg. It also has the best gearbox I've ever used.
Very much looking forward to the weather getting better, and when we're allowed to just go for a drive!
Apologies, here are some pics...

I think these look great, my wife thinks they are utterly ridiculous, so it's a 1-1 draw in our house. Unfortunately, I lost on penalties.
Also the same! I managed to swing it by saying this one was more practical, also she likes it more than the lotus, which is a bonus.. itz_baseline said:
I love these. I’d get one in a heartbeat but I have 3 kids and there’s only 2 seats in the rear. It’s not all that often I’m 5 up, but on those occasions I am I’d struggle to justify leaving a kid at the side of the road and coming back to collect them later.......
I did wonder that today when taking a look around the car, certainly is a shame they've only got the 2 seats in the rear. I can't see why they've done it either. itz_baseline said:

This could help, depending on their ages!https://www.multimac.com/home

Yeah I’ve seen those, but there’s no way I’d invest 10% of the value of the car for one for the odd occasion. Too many other cars out there to try.renmure said:

They seem to split opinion on car forums but I only ever heard positive comments out in the wild.

Ah yes, I read your readers car thread with great interest. In fact, it was yours that made me go for Red! Great photos too, including the above!

They really do seem to! I wasn't a fan to begin with, but in the metal, I loved it, a lot of road presence.
It certainly does seem to turn heads when out and about.

I have two gripes with the FK8 -

1) They look really awkward in photos, but great in real life
2) The rear wheels look so puny and desperately need spacers
Okay maybe 3 gripes
3) In videos they sound like my hoover. What do they sound like in real life?
Red is definitely my favourite colour for this car - it looks lovely.

I would like to get some spacers for the car, just to fill the arches, not too much, and hopefully won't affect the handling.
Exhaust wise, it sounds good inside the car, but just a woosh under boost, it could do with being a bit louder. I'm quite glad they didn't add crackle and pops to it.

I do agree with those points. Certainly a tricky car to photograph.

From my experience with spacers, I never noticed a difference in handling if the spacer is -20mm. But I would recommend having the alignment done after installation. I would like to get some spacers for the car, just to fill the arches, not too much, and hopefully won't affect the handling.

I've driven a few EP3 and FN2 Type R's and the VTEC soundtrack was addictive, seeing as the FK8 is boosted, do you still get that VTEC'y soundtrack?
Fantastic cars. I've had mine for 2 rather enjoyable years.
Practical and sensible when you want it to be - absolute weapon when you want it to be.
I would 100% recommend sticking some smaller wheels on it. I've got 18" Apex EC-7's which has vastly improved the ride - especially over broken surfaces.
Ironically, I'm about to put it up for sale, but that's a different story...

Ive not driven a VTEC Honda, the engine does like to rev though, which I've not encountered on a turbo 4 cylinder before. I could be completely wrong, but in sure I've read it ususes the VTEC system on the exaust side, to get the gasses out as quick as possible.

That does look lovely! Very menacing in black as well.Practical and sensible when you want it to be - absolute weapon when you want it to be.

Really is Impressuve space inside, I transported a broken garden shed to the tip in it yesterday.

I may well get the spacers done then, would be nice for the wheels to fill the arches.

Sounds good, I would love to see the pics once you've installed some spacers. That is very clever and I presume you wouldn't get the classic VTEC noise from that?
I've just had a quick look at your profile - you sir, have had some fantastic cars.

There doesn't seem to be the change in sound like I've heard from various VTEC videos, it does still sound good for a turbod 4. There's also a sound from the waste gate when lifting off after heavy acceleration.
Thank you
