Star Wars: The Last Jedi (CONTAINS SPOILERS)
Discussion
Watched 80% of it last night. Rubbish.
Nothing original in it, the effects seem to have taken a step backwards, acting wooden. Franchise seems to have run out steam.
Lucas' timing selling to Disney was probably spot on.
Maybe it should never have gone past the first 2 or 3 (or I shouldn't have - perhaps I've finally realised the target audience is 7-10yr olds).

I don't think Starwars was ever aimed at that age group though - and even if it was, that doesnt mean they have to be bad films.First Star Wars film I haven’t had some form of home media release on the day it’s released since Phantom Menace. I will buy it eventually but not until it’s in the reduced section.
Solo looks dire as well. Not even going to bother with that until a few people I know have been to see it and given their verdict.

We really enjoyed it too.
it's cool to hate star wars though...............................
No, it's not 'cool to hate Star Wars'. I love Star Wars and have all the major films and TV series. TLJ is just a bad Star Wars film (which also ruins any re-watchabilty TFA had, as the plot points that were set up go nowhere). I paid £2.50 to watch this at the cinema, and even then I felt short changed. This is the first major SW film I haven't bought. I think the Chinese reviewers say it best, in that it is an insult to our intelligence.it's cool to hate star wars though...............................
If you like it, that's fine, but don't try and tell me that the reason others didn't like are just trying to be somehow 'fashionable', and do not like it just for the sake of it - there are good reasons not to like it.
I'm reserving judgement on Solo but it's the first of the new Star Wars films I have not been lined up at midnight to see.
I'll wait until the punter reviews are in.
I forgot TLJ was even coming out for home viewing. I have every previous star wars on disc and in multiple formats over the years, this is bargain bin purchase but nothing more. It had some bits I enjoyed (the throne room fight) but overall not great.

I agree with the criticism of how Luke was treated.
It would have been *so* much better if:
Rey: "Master Skywalker, the resistance needs you."
Luke: Takes lightsaber, VOOOM, VOOOM. "Let's go."

48% audience score on rotten tomatoes. Pretty much agree with that. The Disney paid trolls posting 5* a must watch are obvious.

When one looks at the series as a whole, it stands out, the next biggest difference is 14%, which both Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith are at.https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_wars_the_las...
TLJ was at over 90% at one point too, but I see it's dropped to 90%, making the difference 42%
Never mind the "disrespecting history" arguments, even on its own merits as a single film it was incredibly poor. The storylines were nonsense and full of contradictions and inconsistencies, and that's before the clear SJW/Third Wave Feminism politics.
The result was a film that neither "fans" nor newbies generally liked. That's some effort.
Haven't heard any more on Johnson's trilogy yet, hopefully it's been canned. Mind you, after this effort and his subsequent interviews I have no intention of seeing another film made by him, Star Wars or otherwise.

Watched it last night on blue ray and was very disappointed to be honest, this from a young ish man who watched the original aged twelve in the cinema in 1978 on it's UK release. If it wasn't a Star wars film I probably wouldn't of bothered, I can only hope the next ones a lot better.
