Yep, use wench all the time. A couple of my friends would be a little put ut if i didn't call them wench occasionally, it is definitely an affectionate word from me.

Apologise for calling her 'wench' and start calling her 'merkin' or 'septic' see if she likes it any better.

Probably means something completely different and insulting in Mercan - two nations separated by a single language etc. Similar to hood, trunk, fender, rotor etc.

I still get pain from a poorly healed head wound received when a female Mercan colleague staying in the same hotel as me in Belgium was worried that she might oversleep through jet-lag. So I offered to drop buy her room early the next morning to "knock her up".

Didn't like the hospital wallpaper.

yes I'm with the tell her to get back in her box and learn English before she spouts off.

st if we can cope with the stupidities of "trunk", "hood" "pants" and the like the least the touchy little madam can do is show a little reciprocity.

Because it does't only mean those two things. It's double meanings that make the English language so gay.

Reciprocity....well done that man.

That's a word you don't see on forums every day.

'Wench' nowadays refers to someone who is big/built(goes to the gym alot) , so its not really an insult nowadays if its used in that context.

You're right it does have another (non offensive) meaning, but I think 99% of the time it is used in a derogatory manner.
