I placed my order yesterday at Ascot McLaren for a 570GT for March 17 delivery.
I've ordered it in Silica White with black and Almond white sport interior. Stealth wheels with red callipers, sport exhaust and stealth exhaust finish. Also GT Upgrade pack and Carbon Fibre interior pack.
You're going to LOVE it and your spec sounds beautiful! We have a 570S (Blade Silver with Saddle Tan interior) and it's fantastic. I got to drive the 570GT in the UK a while back and then again on some nice mountain roads at Pebble Beach and it is absolutely GLORIOUS! The perfect combination of performance, comfort and luxury. At some point we'll probably trade our 570S for a 570GT because my wife, the primary driver, would be just as happy with the GT and it makes the storage space behind the seats much easier to access. I also love the gorgeous leather work on the cargo area and the beautiful panoramic roof. Although living in a very warm climate we'll probably wait until availability of the Electro Chromic roof, they previewed at Pebble, is confirmed. I've ordered it in Silica White with black and Almond white sport interior. Stealth wheels with red callipers, sport exhaust and stealth exhaust finish. Nice one marknc
i'm never going to want to track the car and i preferred the lines of the GT over the S. The opening rear deck just made it a bit more versatile for my wife and i to do some nice trips in.
Pebble beach is a nice part of the world-would love a round of golf round there
Totally agreed on the lines. The GT is by-far the better looking car. In so far as the track, I've tracked our 570S and it was awesome. I don't see anything about the GT that would make it less fun on the track. It might lap a tick slower but when driving it around the UK, or in the mountains around Carmel, I couldn't feel it being any diminished (in sporting capacity) to the S. The ride is a little comfier in normal (but tightens up nicely in sport and track) and it might be a tick quieter inside (a good thing in my book) but it still drives like a proper McLaren. I think performance on track would come down more to tires (the standard tires on the GT are the new noise-reduced P-Zeros while the S comes with Corsa tires standard) than anything else. BTW, it would still be plenty fun on track with the regular P-Zeros. I've done a few Pure McLaren events and they send the 650S out on regular P-Zeros (I assume for cost and just in case it rains) and, while they don't grip or turn-in as sharply as the Corsa, they're still plenty fun!i'm never going to want to track the car and i preferred the lines of the GT over the S. Here's a picture of the one I got to drive at Pebble. Same spec as our S and likely the spec we'll do in the GT.

Is Vermilion Red the flat orangey red? If so there is a 675LT here at the Nurburgring in it. Not sure it quite works...
Vermillion red is a flat red, the closest thing McL do to Rosso Corsa/Guards Red - The 675LTs are mostly Delta Red, which is a non-metallic paint but has a bit of an orange tone to it. Volcano red is a deeper metallic colour.FWIW the sports series look amazing in Vermillion Red, but I'd venture that Volcano Red were a more appropriate GT colour...

That GT is stunning OP, lovely choice!
Are you Glasgow-based? I'm in Edinburgh and um-ing and ah-ing about a 570GT or a pre-loved 12c. Heart says new car, head says buy 'qualified'.
Do you think the base spec GT needs a lot of optioning? Mine will be a tourer and very occasional track princess. No trofeo tyres required?

Same here... (Edinburgh)
Also specced for a lot of road use and no track - went full 'GT'
Normal tyres (which have special 'quietness' added), No exterior carbon, standard exhaust, leather interior etc. Touring pack does a lot of what you need for around £5k I think.
Wheels were most expensive options, but I wasn't sure about the standard ones on configurator. Like them more now I've seen in real life, so might have saved the money if doing it now.
I'll be using it a lot in Edin, so feel free to have a look sometime

Thanks for the swift replies.
The name foot soldier seems reminiscent of an old ID on a Scottish lotus forum - not the same chap by any chance?
Good knowledge on the dimensions, I was aware that the 570 was bigger. All part and parcel of the decision making process. Really nice to see a car without oodles of carbon trim which lets face it is expensive to replace and largely decorative
