Something that has become quite common one here for some inexplicable reason- 'Merican' or worse 'Murican'.
And the other thing that drives me nuts is 'because' and then a noun.
For instance ' I wouldn't have a car like that because Vauxhall'.
Or Meercan, it's down to the way they pronounce it.And the other thing that drives me nuts is 'because' and then a noun.

Your second point is 'because Meercan' - it's where it came from so blame them.

I think you'll find that is faux pas. Unless, of course you were being ironic.
Narrowly escaping a parrot there ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
On a separate note.
Almost weekly, according to the Daily Express website, BBC breakfast viewers are "Incensed", "Fuming" etc after seeing a HUGE spelling mistake.
Now I'm the first to admit I can be a bit grumpy in a morning, but.... just switch over to Channel 5 and watched some kids telly with your cornflakes if you're that easily upset.
( hope it's not anyone here

Watching people making cups of tea in the hospital canteen using the following method:
- Pour hot water onto teabag.
- Add milk.
- Instantly remove teabag! Must have been 5-10 seconds brewing at most, grrr.

I wonder if the BBC site runs one taking the mickey out of the Express for using the wrong quotation mark at the start of "deplorable".Now I'm the first to admit I can be a bit grumpy in a morning, but.... just switch over to Channel 5 and watched some kids telly with your cornflakes if you're that easily upset.
