Honestly buy one of these but toast the bun and microwave the "rib" bit and then smother in bbq sauce - it's not the same but it does taste good (to me anyway)

I do quite like them, Lidl own brand is surprisingly nice. Did try the Aldi one, that was pretty crap.
The Lidl one is better than the Rustlers one (in my opinion) but I went with the recognisable brand thumbup
Glad you said that, I prefer the Lidl one too.
Well it's on you guys. I made my first trip to Lidl and came out mostly unscathed, but carrying all kinds of cheeses and hams from brands I've never heard of. And authentic-looking Bockwurst. But don't worry - I didn't forget the purpose of my trip. I shall report back, but only because I know nobody cares whether I like it or not!

Ooh, I liked that. This was our fruit juice in the 70s when my mum was splashing out. Nothing fresh about it and came in a jar. Nice though.

Glad to hear it. I always end up with a load of cheese and meats. I went to Lidl last night, so I’ve got one of these in the fridge.

Continuing on the juice based theme, does anybody remember Sunquick? We lived in Iran when I was young and it was the standard diluting juice. It was an incredibly thick concentrate and tasted great. I saw it in Asda around 10 years ago but it never really took off here.

Those microwavable burger things look absolutely foul, I wouldn't go near them, imagine all the additives and crap in them, I bet their shelf life is something ridiculous like 2 years.

I was sure it would be pretty foul. Apart from the soggy bun it was actually quite good. The best before date for the one I bought a couple of days ago was 10th October 2020 which I found surprising as I'd also assumed they would have a long shelf life.

Toast the bun next time instead of microwaving it smile

Every now and then a microwave burger is fine but I wouldn’t want to eat one every day!

Sticks.

Surprisingly, you can still get chocolate cigars, though not so much aimed at children as the choc ciggys were, and choc tobbacco. Not sure about black jacks, fruit salads and mojos. Opal mints, and mint toffos are gone afaik. Reassuringly, cheese footballs are still available.

About twenty years ago there was microwave bacon. It was in a sealed plastic packet and, as the name suggested, you microwaved it. It made excellent bacon sarnies, when I was too hung over to fry anything.

We had one tosspot customer who sometimes ordered a guinness shandy. I used to check if his car was in the car park to see whether to avoid serving him or not.
(If you have not seen this - think mentos and coke)

They seem to have changed the recipe for black jacks though, as they don't taste anywhere near as good now. And the consistency seems different as well.

Golden Wonder crisps still on sale in Tesco / Home Bargains/ B&M/ Lidls.

Still better than Walkers, although avoid Smokey Bacon, they must have lost the recipe, taste more like Smokey Burnt Lino.
