One for the patina fans.... and a properly detailed description finally.....

Is it just me or have these aged well? I think they actually look great now and all the ingredients for a fun retro, RWD, V6, manual - cool thing!

Agree - a very resolved, timeless design.

If I could get that mechanically sound I'd happily smoke that as-is. Cool old thing.

Obviously I'd end up in prison after the gazillionth Princess Ann comment resulted in a murder, but a small price to pay.
My usual response to the "Princess Ann had one of them" is "She still has one of them!"

What's it going to cost to do the paint on that?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224484939838

That'll go way over budget I reckon
£4095 at the end

I was expecting WAY more for that TBH. Probably just as well I wasn't paying attention when it ended, I just don't have the space for another project biggrin

Until we get bored of pictures of cars, which, considering its Pistonheads and all about cars, is probably quite a few times...

There's lots more love for the Scimitar out there than I can muster. I don't really get it. My loss, I'm sure, but they don't seem a very attractive proposition at all to me.

British
6 cylinders
Quite practical
Rare
Good value compared to other "classics"

Oh and many have Wolf race wheels, the most desirable feature on a car to any 10 year old in the 1970s, even Ferrari didn't have wolfies cool

I've always liked the Scimitar, but only the later, larger SE6 shape (as above with HRH). My parents told me they looked at getting a Scimitar back in the day but thought it not that well built and went for a Stag instead. (Despite the Stag's reputation today they loved it and had no trouble with the two they had.)

I present no argument to your points. I just can't get on board. My loss, I know. smile

My Dad (RIP) had one of these, brings back a lot of memories seeing those pics, thanks.

Strong money though!
Appeared on this thread at £7k a few months ago! Price is heading in the right direction...
Not the same car?

I believe the one you refer to was the HF Turbo posted by breadvan and this is a much more humble 1.8ie with a HF & Abarth badges stuck on, maximum Gerald in the Lancia world I’d guess.

Sticks.

I'm with you on that. Not sure it's very good value when you factor in what needs to be spent although not the bonkers price of many 'classics'.
If you must though, this one needs work but possibly less.

For a little more, this would do me, subject to a small discount and the usual checks.

You could pick up a Scimitar for much the same price 30 years ago - in fact usually a bit less than this

I’d agree they are good value for a classic car if you want a big V6 with a proper manual box that’s cheap on bits

They used to look tremendous in the metallic purple but a bit meh in some other colours, including that green above.

They were in a class of fibreglass cars that also had the Gilbern Invader to whet your appetite.
They also inspired production of the Jensen GT

They also did a pretty rare Invader Estate that was a similar ethos to the Scimitar like this

Delightful.

Someone must have been fired when it turned out the bulk order for dashplastic-valu-gre wasn't actually the grey they were hoping for.
