I remember in the mid 1970's trying to get my Dad to buy an NSU which had a Ford Capri engine fitted. I think it was the first time he told me to "shut up".
That would have been an Ro 80.That a Ford V4 was considered to be an improvement tells you all you need to know about wankel engines.

I've got one!! Blue and white though. For their day, they're a nice ride.
Only saw one at Earls Court at the bike show.

I saw a pic of one at a UK track day so I know they do exist and one is ridden but going back to KL sounds about right. I also googeled the interweb and found motomy I think it was where one of the bikes now had a white livery and was being marketed for sale (around 2013) then when you go to the website it no longer exists.
From a review in MCN years back I recall it was not that great a bike more in part because by time it was tested tech had moved on a lot.
Oh and I bike I have only ever seen you tube is the Y2K bike powered by a helicopter engine. Its also in some dodgy film name of which i forget.

I spotted this bike at a Snetterton track day last summer. The owner uses it regularly but he thought it was the only one in existence. It's an actual wsb race bike I think and he bought it directly from Carl Fogarty along with an almost complete second bike that he has to use for spares as there are obviously no spares available anywhere.
I also saw an advert for a German dealer that was selling one of the homologation road bikes and they had a video of somebody test riding it on their website. I seem to recall it was quite pricey but I guess you would be buying something that was pretty unique albeit the performance is probably not up to much compared to a modern litre sports bike.

winner, cheers
That's very interesting, but I can't help thing that if the leverage and flex allowed by a regular fork was so bad, then all the big brands with much bigger development budgets, or race teams, would've adopted this HCS system
I think a reason for them not catching on in racing is that the rake effectively stays the same under braking with a number of the designs. You also have the slack in the linkages in some designs and the weight of it all in others. All of which may well be a moot point or three when applied to the street! That's very interesting, but I can't help thing that if the leverage and flex allowed by a regular fork was so bad, then all the big brands with much bigger development budgets, or race teams, would've adopted this HCS system

I do wonder what will ever happen to those bikes. The value of them is probably chicken feed in the books of a state owned oil company. That said, if they did somehow arrive at trying to sell them they would be hard to move being an orphan and possibly outclassed in most ways by a MV F3 800 or GSXR750!
MCN test rode the one in germany in 2012https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaNFRuNz0Zw
And a guy in the states stuck one on eBay last year for $52,000 but it looks like there were no bids and it didn't sell............
