Which major event now deserves the 'Chernobyl' treatment?

Having recently seen City 40 on Netflix i would say the Russian City of Ozersk and its nuclear plant Mayak. Both were a state secret during the Soviet times and it still remains a closed city today, built after Hiroshima to mass produce nuclear weapons the area is one of the most polluted places on earth due to various accidents and dumping waste
The Ukrainian war never really seemed to be reported much which I guess is partly due to far larger wars going on in Syria and Yemen at the time but this war has killed more than 13,000 at the start of this year and is still ongoing. The complex political situation behind the war and the fact its within Europe and borders the EU could provide enough depth to make this an interesting series
Venezuela's economic collapse, how the fk does an oil rich country suddenly have the largest economic collapse outside a war in over 45 years, i know there have been documentaries on this but i feel this horrific situation would be worthy of a series

How about one on the Russian revolution and it's aftermath. There has been series after series about Hitler and the holocaust but very few about Lenin Stalin and the mayhem they caused.
I've met apparently educated people who still believe that Lenin and his Bolsheviks were the ones that overthrew the Tsar.

Might put a few of the current arguments about free speech and democracy into perspective.

a longer look into Agent Orange?
Might have been done a lot? There's a hell of a lot of good stuff on Vietnam war. It's a fascinating period in time.I guess a longer look at the after effects could be something. But having been to Vietnam, seen the stuff in the museum and met some who've suffered at the hands of agent orange. I can't think itd be something many will stomach for long. It's not particularly nice viewing
On that note they are releasing a 4K final final director's cut of apocalypse now and it's going to be shown in cinemas as well apparently.
Very powerful documentary on Piper Alpha - Fire in the Night
You have plenty of "political" time line to play with before Argentina invaded. Their motivations to invade, Maggies determination to respond.
Then the invasion and war itself.
Follow up with the effects of failure/winning and personal loss in both countries.
That could be really good/informative. A couple of BBC films on the war: The Falklands Play, An Ungentlemanly Act and Tumbledown.

Falklands could be good given the Band of Brothers level of production. Maybe produced even handed from both points of view could be more interesting.
I definitely think that's one to do.You have plenty of "political" time line to play with before Argentina invaded. Their motivations to invade, Maggies determination to respond.

The abdication and subsequent imprisonment wasn’t the Bolsheviks but the murders in 1918 were at a time after the October Revolution so I think this could be confusing matters. For Lenin and the Bolsheviks having the Tsar still around was probably an issue they’d have been glad not to inherit.
Interested to hear your thoughts on this.

would be brilliant - apart from (like The Black Hole and other EITC related possible stories) too far back in antiquity to know, even roughly, what happened
Yeah sadly, it would basically be a story, there's even arguments on who did it, though most settle on Julius Caesar. I've been watching a lot of 'out there' videos on youtube at the moment, and this stuff is at the forefront of my mind. Holes in the sphinx and underneath it etc. The Vatican library having 53 miles of shelf space etc.Black Hole and EITC? I looked but it was about tax.
