Fly Out Of Heathrow In An Evora

Hertz teams up with Lotus for a spot of rental fun

Just as the majority of child-owning families jet off on their summer hols, car rental company Hertz has added a gaggle of Lotus Evoras to its fleet, which are available at a rate of 250 euros a day.

So while the majority of vehicle hirers will no doubt make do with an asthmatic Fiat Punto or (shudder) a Chevrolet Matiz, those who find such machinery unpalatable can opt for something a little more gourmet form Hethel.

Following a successful test in Italy in 2010, the Evora is being rolled out across Europe as the first participant of Hertz's 'Adrenaline Range'.

Thus, holidaymakers arriving at France's Biarritz, Bordeaux, Marseilles, Nice and Paris Charles De Gaulle airports and Paris Porte Maillot, Germany's Frankfurt Rhein-Main and Munich airports, Italy's Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate airports, Spain's Madrid and Barcelona airports and Madrid, Barcelona and Marbella downtown locations, and the UK's London Heathrow airport (and breathe) can all treat themselves to a spot of Lotus-fuelled fun.

And before your OH starts to complain, the Evoras are 2+2 models, so you can even squeeze the kids in...

Would make a nice alternative to the usual crap you get from hire companies.

Although, would probably need to drive it carefully if you are severely jet-lagged!

Huh, wish they'd have been doing this 2 weeks ago when I was in Barcelona. Would've been nice to drive an Evora to the hotel rather than have to fight off people trying to steal my wallet and suitcase on the underground! Hindsight...

Looks pretty tricky to book at Heathrow but I might give it a go for a few days for a laugh, best sound good in the Heathrow tunnels mind.

Fantastic!

Wonder how long it will take for this to turn into another Evora bashing thread!

Certainly a better option than the Corvette at Hertz in the US.

will you have to keep the 'petrol' sticker on the fuel cap cover?

A good idea. Gets people into the cars, spreads the word.

Lotus must be quite confident of build quality and durability , given that as well all know, hire cars are officially the fastest cars on the planet.

Will be interesting to see ex-hire car Evora's trickling into the used car market later. Watch out for the history !

Here you go - Lotus offloads unsold Evoras to car hire company..Don't believe this will do the brand / car any favours.

On a serious note I quite fancy a long weekend in Europe and hiring one.

What's wrong with the Hertz corvette, the ZHZ right? I layed 11s down everywhere and went aroud most corners sideways in that badboy, quite enjoyed it actually for a hire car?!?? Do you not have a pulse?

There's nothing wrong with the Corvette. I quite like the corvette. But I think the Evora is better.

Depends on the environment. The Evora is probably more suited to Europe whilst the Vette is more suites to the USA.

Given the cost it seems a great way to get people who could afford it (and hence are likely to pay the daily cost) into them to show how good they are.

Maybe I'm a cynic but rental fleets are the usual way of dumping fleets of unsold cars.

They must be pretty sure of the reliability to be risking it though.

I've just spoken with Hertz, booking and paying with an Am-Ex reduces it to a daily rate of £186.34...there is howevever a £3k excess on the car. Potentially a cheap track day on Stelvio, but with easily £100 of fuel, £150 of flights, food and drinks and of course car rental you're looking at realstically a £500 day out.

You could buy a tatty impreza and play in wales for a few weekends and then sell it afterwards if it's an escape from the diesel company car you are after!
