Simple, anybody know this little place north of Stockport? Nice, sthole or somewhere in between?

Baseball cap density would be a good baseline measure :-)

You won't get away from chavs unless you emigrate, but it is one of the least chavvy places in Stockport.

I'm not overly familiar with the area, but it's well known that Heaton Moor is nicer still, but therefore more expensive. HC is perfectly okay though.

Heaton Moor/Heaton Chapel are not too bad, actually there are some decent areas. but the further north you go towards Manchester the situation deteriorates somewhat..biggrin

I quite like the Stockport area generally, plenty worse places.

OP - please don't venture into Stockport town centre, it's incredibly depressing and wall-to-wall with the shellsuited.

Cheers folks, going up on Saturday to see someone. Good to know I won't be venturing into Baghdad...

Highlights of HC - not many ... but do venture to McVities when they're doing a bake as it is a joy to the senses.

Spent many a pleasant evening at the Town Bar in Heaton Moor (about 200 yds from Heaton Chapel Station)

Also Heaton Moor has a cinema and a decent restaurant next door. All in all not too shabby

I lived in Heaton Chapel about 10 years ago.

Not bad, and I enjoyed livign there, but crime rates where horrific and the amount of trouble you saw would put me off living there again.
