As above. Looks like the 40mph is now being policed with specs.

Noticed this at the tail end of last week, glad someone else has!

Is there some temporary roadworks about to start or something? Have to say that the 40 section is this crappest bit of road I have to drive on, I hate it. I go past it every day on the way to the offices and the varience (speeling?) in speed is bloody dangerous, no matter the weather you get all types thundering at 65+ in the outside vs maybe 40-50 in the middle and then 40 on the inside.

My company are Belgian so I work to Belgian hours even when in the UK, so I'm always early and don't speed on the way to work as there isn't really any point on the short route out of the city....if you try to sit at 40 through that section you pretty much have people parking in your boot.

Either sort the lanes out and make them a proper width or police it properly so that mr Q7 doesn't play pinball all over the place beasting by. Can't say I'm really that miffed about these specs cameras.

There are guys doing welding and structural work under the bridge. Above the sewage works (smelly work)
Thevlimit is there as the bridge is collapsing so the lower limit is to lessen stress on bridge until works completed.
I neve speed over it anyway as I've seen too many people done by the usual black and silver unmarked BIBs.

Not particularly against this actually. Iv had some amount of people flying up my chuff at the 40 and swerving at the last minute.

Been through these twice already today at 40 on cruise and still seeing people doing 60 or so. Lots of letters in the post if they are active.

They aren't signposted yet so I'd assume they are not active, according to TS they go live on the 13th.

That may be the reason for the lower limit, but it is totally erroneous. Lowering traffic speed actually increases the load on the support stantions. This was the problem with the Kingston Bridge. In the mornings and evenings the traffic was mostly at a standstill or crawl increasing the load and causing it to sink into the Clyde. If a vehicle is travelling faster the load on the stantions is only momentary, not constant.

Who the hell makes these decisions?!

I'd assume it is more to do with vibrations than anything else.

The most damaging vibrations are the extremely low frequency noise emissions from a large diesel engine at idle; particularly so as the vehicle will clearly be at rest with full weight bearing on the surface at the same time.

I noticed yesterday when driving Eastbound that the first camera stand (before the airport) is in the 50mph zone and the average enforced limit is 40mph. Is the 40mph zone going to commence earlier than at present?

2 lane contra-flow for 3 months sounds like it's gonna be a huge PIA.

I presumed the 40 limit was introduced because the lanes were narrowed when the new barriers were put in...

Oh, and as things stand, you can do any speed through this section after sundown. You'll have to go to court though;)

From someone inside Babcocks Renfrew, the cameras aren't operational until 12th Dec.

So I would expect the dark blue BMs with the SF plates to be making a last effort before the cameras go on.

I passed through these every day - on Sunday I sat at 40 in the inside lane and was passed by lots of cars at 60 - all of whom were still doing 60 in teh middle lane well after the limit goes to 70.............
so the wee man gave them a loser as we overtook them.

I also presumed this due to common sense but who knows.

I passed through both directions a few hours ago and the 40MPH zones have been moved waayyy back. There's a red tint to the camera lenses now.
Looks like they're live.

Served my time as an apprentice draughtsman in there in 1967!

My god, that was a long time ago!
