on my mums X5 when the battery got low it started to turn off "non essential systems" like the radio and bits and pieces, have you checked the state of the battery?

its an internal fault in the radio due to very cold temperatures we've been having lately.if you remove the radio and disconnect all connectors and reconnect it should be fine. Take it to your local dealer and it may be covered under an OTS/warranty.

Mine did the same two weeks ago. The technician confessed it was a known problem- they've done hundreds of the older model Clio, but mine was the first new model (Clio 200)they'd had. They did exactly that- took it and re-connected it. The guidelines from Renault are to do this once, and if it happens again, change the head unit.

Why does the cold do this, and why was mine ok last year in -12? If they do swap the head unit, the problem is not solved!

that isn't really the guideline from Renault, just a way of getting the radio working until your new radio has arrived, well what should happen anyway! From memory this fault has happened since 2006, but only more recently in the last few years.they say they are modified units,The dealer will need to remove the radio to get the numbers off the side to make sure the ots is applicable

Mine did the same thing the other day. You can also take the fuse out and plug it back in. I couldn't find my radio removal tools and it worked for me. It's probably just the radio fuse but I look the dashboard one out as well just to be sure (both blue 15A)
You'll need the radios password but ignore the manual for the radio that says you have to contact the dealer, there should be a sticker with it on in the front of the service book.

Well no new unit has been ordered for me. They do this once and if it goes again, replace it. Just passing in what the Renault Tech said at the main dealer.

They should replace it first time, if it's covered by the OTS. Get them to check NT4800A.
Disconnecting the radio and reconnecting is part of the diagnosis, not a temporary fix.

I appreciate that I am a bit late on this but I have had exactly this problem! However, after taking my car to my local Renault garage in 2010!!! they did not diagnose the problem. I have had 3 and a half years of stress with my car and no one has been able to tell me what the problem was. I have had the more extreme symptoms, basically radio stops working and then total battery drain/dash lights constantly on - the works! I have complained to Renault and now have a new radio but they are refusing to take responsibility for the fact that this should have been sorted in 2010. My car is a Renault Clio Initiale 07 plate - if anyone else has a similar experience, please can you let me know? I'm not giving up! (I only found out this was a 'real' problem by googling it!)
