I'm thinking of ordering a D5 Touring and was wondering if there are any discounts available, the salesman says they never discount Alpina, wondering if anyone had experience of this?

hi dazza, its true - alpina just won't allow for one to be sold with even 100 quid off. it's always been like that.

AMAZING car though..

Well that just goes to show that stopping discounting doesn't impact residuals.....

Indeed. Wait two years and get a low mileage example with >£20k off list....best discount ever. Thats what I did!

Just read the glowing Autocar (I know!) review for the D5.....quite a car! At a £7k premium to the 535d M Sport it's really not bad though obviously you'd be able to get a decent discount off the 535d. Given the superior ride, dynamics, performance exclusivity etc I actually think it's pretty reasonable. If I was in the market for a 535d I'd be having a very serious look at the D5.

I don't think that is quite true, an Alpina D3 still fetches far more than a 320d m-sport or 325d se of the same vintage and mileage, and in 3 years time I think the gap between a 535d sport and D5 will be more than £12k too.

You can now pick up year old 535d's for just over £35k, can't see a D5 loosing that much.

Agreed, I sold my B10 for the equivalent value of 3-4 540s of the same age. If the B7 isn't worth a shed load more than a 750 I'll be bowled over. It certainly was when I bought it!

(unless I was daft enough to trade it in at Sytner wink)

That's a fair point. The D5 looks like a great car.

Bit of a 'holy thread resurrection' I know however have things changed at all re obtaining a discount on an Alpina?

I'm asking for a friend who is considering a D3 vs a 335d. The Alpina's list price is over £5000 more than the 335d. However, the latter is being discounted so heavily right now that the difference between the two is almost £15k. Yes the Alpina is a better car imo and quicker however £15k is a lot of money.

So still no discounts on Alpinas?
