Anyone here ever owned one?
I guess its probably been asked here before but,as the title says what would be printed on the reg.doc to describe the vehicle colour?
Perhaps multi-coloured?

Good question. Never owned one but I'll go ahead and speculate anyway, I'd guess it'd be the colour of the shell itself. So the top one would be blue, the bottom one red?

My old TVR Sagaris had funny flip coloured paint that went from blue to orange to pink etc. The V5 actually had the colour listed as "Multicoloured"

I suppose this could fall into the same camp?

From memory it's the colour of the sill / rear quarter panel / roof as that is the bodyshell and the rest are bolt on panels.

So top one would be blue bottom one would be red

V5 can state 'MULTI' if a car is more than one colour. For this purpose I suppose.

I had an unpainted bumper (white) on a red car that I put though an MOT and the tester changed the colour to "multicoloured", so I'm pretty sure it's not done on the colour of the monocoque.

20+ years ago there was a taxi company in Aberdeen who swapped the boot, bonnet and doors from black cars to white and vice versa.

Quick and cheap way to make the cars distinctive, and no need to respray at disposal - just swap the bits back.

Don't suppose they would have updated the V5.

I always thought it went on the colour of the roof. Could be wrong tho.

Mx5 silver paint & black cloth roof classed as silver.
Looks like Superhoop may know the answer if he was registering them when new?

But MyCarCheck gives them as multicoloured. ??

Yep, and a Smart car is registered as the chassis colour, not the body panels. So they are mostly listed as silver or black.

Some are registered as red but the majority are registered as multi-coloured

I guess it depends or which dealership registered them as to the colour description

I believe Police vehicles are listed as multicolour on the V5 as well.

They started out as something on show at the car shows then lots of people said they wanted to order one. Afaik you couldn't even specify what colours you got where, just that you wanted one.
