As per the title really. Whenever I do this I end up with haze which is particularly evident when sunny and it's driving me mad so, what's the best way to get a clean windscreen?

What are you cleaning it with?

We use glass cleaner (asda own brand...nothing fancy), then smear about with a paper towel, then a clean paper towel to buff it off.

(This is probably really bad in some way. But it works for us!)

Foam pad and some Autoglym glass cream cleaner. Nothing better, but less is more when using it!

Vinegar in a spray bottle. Wipe off with newspaper. Way better than any expensive cleaning products/cloths.

I find good old fashioned Windowlene, (the pink stuff) works the best. Gets it totally smear free. Warning though 'DO NOT' get any on your dash board or any other part of your interior. Agreed, nothing more annoying than smears visible in sunlight or at night with headlights coming towards you.

Agreed - better than any liquid spray cleaners I have used over the years.

I use screenwash on the windows inside and out. Spray a mix on from a bottle. Works as it should and does not smear. Works really well on the house windows as well. Quick and easy.

I get a microfibre cloth, fold it in 4, then spray window cleaner onto one face of the cloth (to keep it off the dash), then use that side to apply the cleaner to half the windscreen using L to R wipes (I use top to bottom wipes on the outside, so you can see which side the smudges are on), then fold the cloth to a dry side and buff off, repeating for the other side of the windscreen.

Im not really sure many people would want their car reeking of vinegar for the rest of its life to be honest.

What about removing traffic film from the outside? I've just started another topic on this, would be interested in peoples experiences / recommendations.

This is my solution too!

I apply sparingly with mutton cloth and remove with the same. Then give it a good going over with a microfiber cloth. Complete transparency!

I use the turtlewax green bottle stuff. Smear free all the time.
I also try and get the screen warm as well, leave it in the sun. Doing it on a cold screen doesnt work as well IMO (placebo effect?)

I've found most commercial products to be pretty good, if I follow the instructions. Some are leave on and buff when hazy, some are remove as you go, and some in-between. If you don;t follow the instructions they can prove less than perfect. wink
I use the Autoglym above and Megs most often - both very good.
