I am preparing for a long winter !
The wood store is stocked and my new chain saw has been utilised to 'make ready' for the winter time.
This warm weather is perfect for drying the wood.....

Lets so your wood stores ( empty or full)

and prior to filling.........

Feck me - that's not a wood store, that's a kindling store hehe

I'll go through that much wood on a good weekend and whilst my store is currently only about 3m x 3m x 3m (h) I'm just about to knock it down and build a bigger one to take the amount of wood I know I'll go through!

I built this a few weeks ago to store the vast amount of wood we have left after a load of tree work. (about 3x6m)

I've chopped and stacked about 10% so far! Luckily this leaves plenty of room for the lawn tractor wink

The man shed is currently used as my wood store but it is a bit bare at the moment:

The man shed is about 50% wider than you can see in the photo and I was stood in it when I took the pic (to get an idea of depth) and so is plenty big enough. However I have 3 mature trees to cut down and about 4 others to really cut back and so the man shed plus the actual shed will be stuffed full of lovely wood by next weekend.

I'll post an update if the tree cutting goes to plan.

Current wood store which is half full due to the fact I'm about to refurbish my chicken shed with a new roof/doors on the front and sides, ship lap all around etc. My intention is to increase the width of the wood store to 5m due to the amount of wood we use each winter. I've had the side cleared already to make a start shortly.

And the attached chicken shed which will be unrecognizable within a few weeks once the new roof is on, sides recovered etc. etc. The basic frame is sound, just needs a bit of TLC to make it good as new again. Three rooms, two new front doors, a workshop, a place for the tractor mowers and a store room.

And of course a bigger wood store smile

OOOhhhhh That's s really 'cool' shed you have there ! Every man should have a shed.

Thats impressive. I note your wood pile is neatly sectioned by size too.

It will be a whole lot better when the new roof etc. is on.

It's about 40 years old with a good skeleton, the outside is tired and it's a tiny price to re-build rather than knock down and build a new one.

And yes, my wood is in sized piles... smile

Once the wood store is bigger I'll have enough room for many tonnes of wood which will hopefully last most of the winter.

Thnk goodness for that.

I'd worry myself to sleep if your shed wasn't up to standard.

As you were....

It's not only about the size of the store it's also about the stacking;

Absolutely, its in Finland, so wood stores are most definitely needed.

Her parents have 60 hectares to harvest, we have 40+ hectares to harvest for wood.

Her father looks after both whilst we are in the UK.

I know some of it is too good to burn but it would be skipped otherwise.

Outside woodstores. I may have gone abit OTT with the shed, but was made for the cost of the roofing sheets, everything else was scrounged for free.
