I've become weirdly obscessed with car pairing for people who are fortunate enough to have 2 cars. Its root cause came a few years back when I saw a lucky man giving his E-Type a wash with a brand new XJR parked next to it. Seemed a really cool thing to have an iconic historical car and a great modern car from the same marque to use everyday. My pairing at the moment is an E46 330D Touring with a few mods and an Alpina B10 635 Csi. Sad to say the 330D is quicker redface but the 635 does have a nice sense of occasion about it when you drive it. Had a Clio 182 Cup last year with my GTA Turbo - that was a good little combo too in my opinion but Clio now gone :0(.

What combos have you got/had or would fancy? Pics of the cars together would be nice - he says posting 2 seperate ones!

Love the 80's 6 series'. They used to be so reaonable, now definitely going up in value fast!

Anyway, Lady Flashman wants me to get something sensible. No, says I.

I think I would really like a 2 car combo consisting of a Morgan Aeromax and a full fat Rangie. Just a bit more special on the Morgan's part, and useable on the Range Rover's part.

Mrs SS and I have doubled up on the old/new marque combo. We have a 64 Giulia and a modern Giulietta, and a 61 3500 GTi and a modern Granturismo.

For a left field pairing, what about an iQ for everyday city driving and. 3000 GT for fun? (the posh version would be a Cygnet and a DB5 I guess).

At the moment I have a 4 car combo, but if I had to narrow it down to 2 then it would be the Corrado VR6 and the RR TDV8. I would definitely miss not owning a Convertible then though. My perfect 2 car garage would probably be a Porsche 997 C4S/Turbo Convertible and a RR V8 Supercharged from one manufacturer then a Porsche 993 C4S Coupe and a brand new Boxster S

Any suggestions as to something that would go well with my Civic EP3?

Doesn't have to be Honda!

BMW 335 SE Touring - getting on a bit but does almost everything (except sound nice at idle) pretty well without making me look like an M3 wannabee. Had it 5.5 years yet I still find it a hoot to drive.

VW California 180 4Motion - comfy, massive boot, also carries a small house, gave us our best ever holiday for five weeks in June/July this year.

I wouldn't chase the van regardless of budget, I'd struggle to replace the BM but I think we will downsize to an M135i in Spring.

The combination of the two suits me pretty well. The BMW is smooth and comfortable with room for carting the kids round and the Mazda is more involving and nimble.

These two for me at the moment.

The Fiat is a twin Air. Living in London, this car is perfect for big city driving. No road tax or congestion charge. It's an anonymous mode of transport which is confortable, frugal, has all of the toys that one needs and is small enough to park anywhere.

The QP is for cross country and cross continent jaunts. A really enjoyable GT. We can get the family, the dog and all of our luggage on board. A great car. One car drive all day and arrive refreshed.

Until recently, I had a Hawk Stratos which covered the 'lunatic' side of driving. But, she's gone. frown

Slightly non-standard R32GTR for some practicality, and Noble M400 for when 2 seats is enough! smile

My favourite combo was 535d Touring and M3 CSL.

Plus the M3 just didn't loose money at all, in fact went up £1500 and the 535d ended up costing me £2k over the year.

That was a cheap years motoring which was the cheery on top.

If I could have anything right now it was be a new RRS and a 911.

Being realistic it will be my old ML and maybe a Z4 if I am lucky. wink

Bought my Megane Renaultsport 250 in 2011 and love it to bits so this year as I approached having it paid for I decided on another Renaultsport, the Twingo 133 the last one ever in liquid yellow, I bloody love it.
So the idea now is the Megane gets sorned over the winter and I use the Twingo biggrin
