The wife had a slow puncture on her '11 Polo and so the low pressure warning light was illuminated

We've had the tyre replaced but the warning light is still on. Does it have to be reset at a dealer?

Thanks for help

There should be a button somewhere to reset the pressures, have a look in the glovebox

You need to press and hold the reset button until you hear a "chime" and a light goes out.

Not sure of the location of tje button on the Polo but it will either be in the glovebox or next to the ESP On/Off. button.

The system utilises the ABS.wheel speed sensors tp detect the puncture but needs a datum to work from therefore everytime the pressures are.adjusted or a wheel is off the system needs reset.

Tyre pressure monitors are the most stupid thing. I have had to replace 2 now on my S8 at 82 quid a pop. I check tyres anyway and have eyes so having a beep tell me when they tyre needs a squirt of air is the most pointless option for a car I think.

Well especially when the wife just ignored it anyway, drove home on a practically flat tyre then asked me what the light on the dash was.

Most VAG TPM systems run off the ABS sensor, must be actual sensors on the s8.

Did you reset it? Hold down the TPM button till it beeps

The Polo pressure monitor does work via the ABS sensors. To reset you need to drive at about 30 on a straight, non cambered road and hold the button until you hear the chime.
