Spec the PH BMW M4 - Update

A week in and here's how the PH M4 is shaping up

With over 4,000 specifications submitted for our M4, we thought it was about time to post an update on what the car looks like right now.

Tanzanite the most popular colour so far
Tanzanite the most popular colour so far
It's certainly unique, that's for sure. So far 43 per cent of you have chosen the Individual Tanzanite Blue exterior colour, a fine choice. The only issue being that, as it's an Individual colour, there aren't yet any configurators available to show us what an M4 looks like in that hue. Damn.

It is currently being matched outside with Jet Black wheels and the carbon ceramics. Unsurprisingly the latter has proved a popular choice, with 61 per cent opting for the brake upgrade.

Inside there are more Individual choices, with the black upholstery, Sakhir Orange stitching and carbon trim. As we said, certainly a one-off M4 as it stands!

The most popular extras chosen so far are the Titanium Sports Exhaust with matching titanium tailpipe finisher (excellent choice) and the carbon rear diffuser. Nearly 80 per cent (78.97) of you have opted for the diffuser so far, the most popular accessory selected.

Don't like this spec? The competition is open until February 6, you know what to do!

Hmmm, maybe in GT6 the colour is available? I'll give it a try this afternoon.

Hooray for the titanium exhaust biggrin

It is. It's no Estoril Blue though.

Think I was the only one that spec'd this in black with silver wheels. Keepin' it classy.

I also went with blue...its certainly generated plenty of interest & nice to see the breakdown of the figures up to yet.

I wouldn't call silver wheels "classy" either. Silver trim almost never looks good on modern cars, to me.

Quite sure not all black cars belong to drug dealers. My mother's car, for example.

Since when have wheels been 'trim'?

I'd rather have an elegant and simple black car on normal coloured wheels that some shouty barry luminous blue on black wheels. Awful.

OK so it's a 3, but it does show that blue/ black isn't that shouty.

That spec is almost exactly what I came up with. The only difference being that I chose blue stitching on the seats.

Why have 80 per cent of people gone for a carbon rear diffuser!?!

I can't imagine wasting even someone else's money on something as ultimately pointless as that. But then I don't get the point of slathering decorative carbonfibre at the best of times. It's a bit too Halfords.

Those black/dark wheels look terrible. What's wrong with you lot?

And as for the daft carbon ste... i thought we'd all grown out of that (excluding the brakes).

I own two BMWs and neither has any decorative carbonfibre!

Jalopnik are doing something similar with a 2-series (your choice of 228i or 235i) in the USofA and, if I remember correctly, you get to own and play with it for a week.

Here you go http://jalopnik.com/configure-your-ideal-bmw-2-ser...
