I am thinking of buying some kettlebells or a bulgarian bag. Which would you advise? I travel a lot by car for work often sleeping in hotels without a gym etc so need something I can have in the boot and do some training in my room.
There seems to be a lot of kettlebell workouts out there but can anyone recommend any bulgarian bag routines?
Also, what do you think of doing the above workouts in addition to Stronglifts 5x5?

I personally prefer kettle bells but used in conjunction with dumbbells. The Bulgarian bag will offer you a more complete workout if you are in a hotel room

If you are travelling a lot think about a set of resistance bands as an alternative. Take up very little room, weigh very little, and you can get some combinations that will give you a lot of resistance if you want to go "heavy".

The 10,000 Swing challenge looks like a good place to start, and people seem to have had positive results. The thing is I am not sure if the 24kg bell is right for a beginner, ,maybe a 20kg would be a better choice?

I would recommend a kettlebell as they are great for a full body workout.

Men are usually recommended a 16kg to start. The 24kg is for the swing challenge and could limit you on the other exercises like TGU, c & p, snatch etc.

What is your height, weight and overhead pressing strength? I ask because I bought my 20kg kettlebell when I was benching 100kg + and overhead pressing 28kg db's for reps. I definitely should have bought a 16kg bell to start with, even though I could perform all the exercises with the 20kg.

Some of my friends who are strong yet light had trouble swinging my 20, let alone my 32.

hehe

It can't be beat for cardio but I'm going to get a 16 in May for my birthday. I want to try that long cycle you do with the clean and press + start doing TGU's again.

Can't have too many toys biggrin
