Mazda Digital Service Record - non owner access?

Hello and greetings from a newbie. I'm looking for some info regarding Mazda's service record system. I'm in the market for something of a family workhorse and cheap (i.e. old), I've seen a Premacy (don't hate me) that looks decent enough with a new MOT. Trouble is it doesn't come with any service history, dealer says it was taken in part exchange without paperwork, but they have verified it had a timing belt change last year at a local main agent Mazda dealership. The seller seems genuine enough but without anything to back up his claim I would be daft to proceed, particularly as I'm a bit of a lamb to the slaughter when it comes to used cars.

So I'm wondering if a non Mazda owner but potential buyer would be able to access the service info held by Mazda? From looking at the MyMazda app it seems I need the registration number which I do have, but also the VIN number which I don't. Does anyone have any ideas if the info on Mazda's database is something a non-owner could be allowed to see?

Thanks

Garlick

You could ask for the VIN, even if you said it was to check all is well with HPI maybe?

Good point about requesting VIN NO. for HPI.
The vehicle in question is a 2000 2.00 litre diesel with just under 100k on the clock. It's listed as £995, so not giving it away at that price but it doesn't strike me as being massively over-priced either.

Doubt it would have a DSR for a car that old, IIRC it was 2006/7 cars when they started doing it.

Ring any dealer with the reg, the system is centralised so they should be able to tell you exactly when it's been in.

You're probably right, though I understand you can self register a vehicle which might have happened (clutching at straws here admittedly)
