The wind took the front door earlier today and has broken a few panes of stained glass. We've been talking about having a new door so this has brought forward our decision and I need to get something sorted.

It needs to be wooden and have a partially obscured stained glass toughened window in the top third, have a 5-lever mortise lock and dead bolts/locks top and bottom.

The ones I've seen so far online are either crappy composite reproductions, or beautiful with a huge price tag to boot.

Can anyone suggest where to start or recommend someone in the Yorkshire area?

Thanks

Have a look on eBay. I needed a 1 over 3 panel internal for our 30s house in a modern standard size (rather than the slightly non modern standard 30s sizes) and got a solid pine repro for less than £100.

You'll need to be more specific for a suggestion:
Type of wood, stained or painted?
Size
Off the shelf or bespoke?
Style (picture)
Area if needing someone to come out, Yorkshire is the biggest County in the UK.

Bookmarked.

Replacing the horrible 70's door on our 1930's house is moving higher up the todo list, although I'm going to go for a hopefully not too crappy composite replica, as I want it to be maintenance free.

Don't rule out getting a local joinery firm to make one.

I've decided to get one of these. Not cheap but solid, expertly made and it'll look the part once I've painted it. It comes unpainted. This is just to show an example.

Oh I'm serious.

I'd be paying £750 for a nasty composite fake wood door and PVC frame so don't mind really.

I'd say that's a reasonable price for what is a good looking repro door. I've just fitted a contemporary-style door (primed softwood door and frame with a double glazed upper panel) that cost me £950. The nearest quote to this was nearly £1100!
