Afternoon all.
I'm tempted to join this lot for breakdown cover, they seem to get good reviews but I'd like to know if anyone is with them and has experience of them?

I've been with them for a couple of years. Never had to use them yet, so can't give you much of a review! Has gone up a very slight amount this time around. Reviews seem positive from what I've seen.

Mrs GG has had cover with them for almost a year, had to call them last weekend due to a starting issue which transpired to be a dead battery. Call out was passed to a local garage, paid them direct and have submitted the claim back to Autoaid but it's only been a few days since I posted it back to them so I've not had confirmation of payout or decline.

Will be renewing with them as cover expires in a fortnight, still works out cheaper equivalent cover from AA/RAC.

fee=£41 /year. And you've got to pay the breakdown service. Seem to remember that Flux rescue ( home start/breakdown /recovery) is around the £58 mark for those insured, and circa £68 for those not insured.

Been with them for around 8 years - three callouts in that time (including a 100+ mile recovery) and have been happy with the service. Have also saved a huge amount over the AA equivalent.

It works but their response times can be slow and despite not saying so in their terms they will deduct any card processing fee from the cheque they send you (so if you pay a breakdown company by card and they charge you for doing so, Autoaid wont pay the charge)

Couple of times they sent a firm from miles and miles away which lead to long long waiting times

I've been with them for 3years, called them out 3 times and always got my money back and fast responses. The OH has used them twice and all good. I like that they cover you so any car that you are in is covered

Been with them 4 or 5 years. Used once. Fast call out, the company was next junction on motorway, recovered to my usual repairer & paid me out in about a week.

For the price a great, service IMO.

I've been with them for years - never had a problem when using them for a breakdown.

Used them last week to cover a flat battery when leaving work - I was told they are moving to a new payment system, which meant I no longer had to pay and claim back - the breakdown company now bill Autoaid direct. I don't know if this covers all operators yet, but it's a step in the right direction.

I've been with them for about 8 years I think. Claimed twice; the first I paid and was refunded but the amount was capped to £75 because it was from home. The second was a recovery agent selected by them (you can chose anyone you want, or get them to do it) and this time (a month or two back) Autoaid paid the contractor direct. I never even saw a bill.

I think they're really good, and much cheaper than anyone else out there. Highly recommended.

Not sure that's a good thing TBH.

When I originally researched this, it seemed the main reason they were so much cheaper than the other providers was because people didn't bother to claim, thus meaning the scheme was rather profitable for the underwriter!!

Paying the Breakdown fee direct will result in increased premiums for us.

They've paid direct for a couple of call outs I've had with no real explanation as to why.

Blurs the line somewhat with the other product offered by Equity Red Star - Autonational Rescue which has a higher premium and offers a "no claims discount" scheme
