Buying for son for Xmas. Do I need the 1TB?

Will be mainly playing driving and football games...and Minecraft.

I have a 500. It's only big enough for roughly seven or eight games IMO. I did not know about the external storage option. I've been deleting games when I've got near my drive's limit.

Doh! Get a new external drive and plug it in to the usb port on the back. do not format it or use a formated one from a windows machine. The xbone will see the new drive and want to format it either for music and video..I think.. OR games.

Chose games.

The console uses about 250gb for system information so in reality you get a 750gb hard drive or a 250gb.

I've got a 500gb console and bought a 2tb hard drive for £70 so it works out to be the same price as the 1tb machine but with way more storage.

You could always buy a1tb and an external hard drive too later on if your not as tight as me!

The external storage is a nice idea. Just a shame they we so conservative on the amount of USB slots this time around.

Depends how much ££ you want to spend but in November the Elite console is coming out.

£400 for 1TB hybrid solid state drive so it faster loading and it comes with the £120 Elite controller standard.

A 1TB USB3 portable drive is £40 on Amazon. I got one for my Day One 500GB and its fine. Apparently a fast USB3 drive is faster than the internal 5400rpm drive, so I moved the games I had to the external drive anyway, leaving the internal as the system drive. Or as above, wait it out for the Elite with the internal hybrid drive.

As someone who's had a day one edition, 500bg, Xbox One from the start. I would say get him a PS4 of any kind.

Seriously unless he wants an Xbox one for a very specific reason then go for a PS4.

I've been trying to convince a mate to go with Sony this generation but he's adamant he's sticking with Xbox, ended up buying him an Xbox one for Christmas, not sure what size HD it has but GameStop have the Xbox one with connect in for £269.
