Pioneer stereo fitment and canbus/steering wheel issues

Hi,

I recently fitted a Pioner SPH-DA120 CarPlay stereo to my girlfriend's Mk5 Golf GTI. The stereo works great, but there are a couple of small issues which need addressing.

1. The unit backlight doesn't dim with the headlights. It stays extremely bright which is really distracting at night. Presumably this is a canbus issue?

2. The steering wheel controls do work (volume, next track etc) but each time you want to change the DIS display for MPG, range, speed etc. it skips the track too. Is this right? It's very inconvenient!

I fitted the stereo with the Halfords Autoleads steering wheel/canbus adapter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
