991 GTS Must haves
Discussion
Flirting with the idea of a GTS (always been my favourite 911!)...but thoughts on which of the variations below are best?
1/ 991 GTS
2/ 991 4 GTS
3/ 991 Targa 4 GTS
Obviously 1 is the "purist" GTS, and 3 is the least...but the Targa 4 just looks so dan beautiful! Would love to hear thoughts from you chaps...

Wifi: download from your mobile provider app store the "Connect " app, not to be confused with "Car Connect". fwiw once connected you will receive map updates via your phone's wifi hotspot too.
No doubt you'll be about to find out the various ways of connecting a phone.... USB, Bluetooth, CarPlay etc all of which do subtly different things and feature sets.
The phone and feature connectivity is my mine area of complaint about the new Porsche's. Quite confusing when compared with other manufacturers
Thanks, I have both the connect and car connect app, pretty confusing having 2 apps!No doubt you'll be about to find out the various ways of connecting a phone.... USB, Bluetooth, CarPlay etc all of which do subtly different things and feature sets.

Was at the dealer for the windows and even they struggled with the WiFi, the password just didn’t work, until we went into my Vodafone connect account and purchased the free 7gb data option for the car, which then enabled the password and streaming on the car, and they activated the tracker to get the remote services via the app, which I thought was £99 but they say is free for a year, it’s only the tracker element you have to pay for. I can see where the car is on the map though, and see if it’s locked etc, and the fuel gauge. Strange that if I see it’s not locked, I can’t lock it from the app though.
Now I do have a new issue though, I get a warning each day in the car to say the tracker emergency service contract has expired, great.
They said they fixed my windows by re-calibrating them, but it’s still intermittently doing it so it’s got to go back in Wednesday
The new pcm online services and WiFi stuff is definitely over complicated though, I’m an IT consultant with 20 years of experience and still struggled as there’s no step by step of what you need to do, plus there’s multiple apps and multiple accounts and Vodafone in the mix with dealer settings and codes too. Bit of a mess if you ask me to get everything working.

Well... if you want a Targa the GTS targa is good as it has more power to help offset the extra weight.1/ 991 GTS

Its hard to say as we cant comment on if you want a targa softtop or coupe. But dont get a 2wd coupe cos its the purist choice get the one you want they are all great as the entire 911 range is top notch.
I would say though the GTS to me is most interesting in the 2wd coupe and the fact its a 2wd in widebody really sets it apart from a options special
Collecting my gen 2 gts this weekend and getting very excited. Not the purest spec as 4wd cab but having had the 2wd coupe gen 1 I fancied something different. Pics to follow.
Anyone on here moved from a gen 1 gts to a gen 2 and later regretted the move in hindsight due to lack of na engine?

To help you with my experience....I've had both 991.1 C2 3.8 GTS, and a 991.2 C2 3.0T GTS - For many reasons, I preferred the newer 3.0T version. Engine still sounds great, has more go in all gears, damping is much more compliant, steering feel better, and interior tech is better.1/ 991 GTS

I don't like the C4 versions of the 911 - They're heavier, and not as willing to move around, which I like.
Like you, I think the Targa looks superb, but check the specs - it's very heavy compared to a C2. The new 3.0T engine makes the Targa hide that weight a little better, but still not as nimble as a C2.
Of the 3 cars on your list, I'd pick the 991 C2 GTS, preferably the 991.2...
But just to throw a curved ball at you, I've got a Carrera T. It has the same -20mm chassis as the GTS, plus some other bits, and I really like it. It's possibly every bit as good as a GTS, maybe even better....
