640d GC has gone back to BMW, to be replaced by this. I loved the GC (even though it was not the most reliable car I've ever had), and it was perfect for schlepping up and down the motorway to clients, but I kept getting a yearning to return to petrol and wind in the (not so much these days) hair. So I spoke to my local dealer, who did me an absolutely cracking deal, and here we are, a factory order, arriving only 6 weeks after that conversation.

440i M Sport Convertible, with a few options, most notably the wheels and the Harmon Kardon system, which is terrific, in re-sale silver with a tart's boudoir red interior.

First impressions are very positive, it revs wonderfully, feels nice and quick (even though it's obviously still very tight), and the crackle and pops from the exhaust in sport mode amuse me no end.

Very nice 440 and with the correct engine. What problems did you experience with your 6 series? Ive been looking at them recently and fancy a 640d maybe

Very nice. The 40i is a lovely engine.

Enjoy the last few days of summer!

Brilliant car, made by the engine, but had full ICE replaced, the rattly seat thing, headlight washer fell out, ate tyres and brakes (apparently unusual, depending on who you speak to), last 6 months wouldn't automatically connect to 'phone, although would, when prompted manually.

On the plus side, I had more positive comments about how it looks than any other car I've had, it had amazing motorway/DC performance, averaged just under 40mpg over 3 years, and the interior was superb. GC also had plenty of room in the back, and a huge boot, so surprisingly practical.

The colour combo is not really my cup of tea but absolutely love the car and engine, I think you've got hold of a nice rare car there.

Enjoy the roof off motoring.

I really like that, wouldn't be my first choice of colour combo but it really works.

Nice to see you went with those wheels, I think they're far nicer than the new ones with fewer spokes.

Looks like a lovely package you have there, ooh err.
German motors don't usually do much for me,recently took trip in a friends 330i convertible with the roof off and the auto box left doing it's thing and the car finally made sense too me.
I imagine this does everything a bit better than the 330 and if that is the case it'll be a dream machine in the right circumstances! enjoy it.

The 440i is probably the only car I would change to if I had to sell the Z and couldn't manage two cars.

The silver isn't to my taste, I promised myself I would never own another silver car - I'd go with the new BMW blue, but otherwise, perfect !

Nice car and must be quite rare, nearly every BMW on the road seems to be Diesel these days

Indeed - loved my 640d GC, but only a couple of days in this have reminded me how bloody nice a petrol 6er is, (even with a turbo). They probably don't sell too many of these - certainly not if you go by the discount I got!

It's all about the full tarty 'boudoir' effect!

440i M Sport Convertible starts at £47,685 before options - I think mine was north of £52k list, but I paid a LOT less than that, a fair bit closer to your number actually..

Saying that, loads of people on the 3/4 series forum have bought the 40i.

Enthusiasts Chris.

A load more people, who aren't on any forums to do with cars, have bought the 420d.

Sad, but true.
