These two

I also own an old VW registered late 1972 K plate, but they stopped making that one in 1969

Someone my dad knows has a MK2 (pre facelift) Superb on a 65 plate, it's a 2.0TSI and apparently was meant for Singapore but never made it.

But as it's an RS500 it matters not.

Normal 3 dr not a 500

Remember him building it, then breaking it as he couldn't sell it.

Was a new registerd 3dr. Don't think the owners club would recognise it as it wasn't factory built so kind of ruined the value

Seen plenty of 58 and even 09 plate mk1 Skoda Octavia taxis. Mk2 was introduced in 2004.

Guy on Briskoda had a 09 plate MK1 Fabia vRS SE, 2 years after they were built.

I once saw a guy driving a LHD Mk4 Astra that stopped being made in 2004. It had a British 07 plate on it laugh

I've seen a similar Maestro on a 2001 Y reg, that must of been one of the very last ever produced

There were a couple of Maestros registered on a 51 plate - the last-registered was VX51 VOD from memory. There aren't many models covering 3 different registration systems - Y suffix, A to Y prefix (with P missing, admittedly) then 51 prefix - which looked broadly the same at the end of production as they did at the beginning...

The cars with N-plates through to 51-plates were "kit cars" (either "Ledbury" cars or "Apple 2000" cars) built after production at Cowley had stopped and the production line had been dismantled and sold to the Varna factory in Bulgaria, and had the same 1300 engine as the original 1.3 Maestros (although the late models would run fine on unleaded).

I remember following a couple of Merc W124s on the A13. They were brand new, on trade plates and still with the plastic wrap on the seats and covered in protective wax. Not yet registered but this must have been about 3 years after the model had been replaced.

In my local town I often see a boggo standard Mk4 Fiesta that's on a 54 plate.

I also saw an 09 plate Aprilia RS125 for sale a few weeks back, but it was the Mk2 bubble shaped one which was produced from 99 until about 05/06.

Nearly bought a Lupo Gti a good few years ago that would have been registered on an '08 or '58 plate - was at that time unregistered

Was for sale from S-W-S as damaged in transit and as a result was neither fixed or registered

If a car is registered before it's third birthday from date of manufacture then it gets the current plate. If registered after it's 3rd birthday then it will be assigned a plate in relation to it's build date.

However. There is the old one that slips through the net.
