Sutton CS800 Mustang announced

Right-hand drive, 800hp and £65K you say? Go on...

As is now probably becoming evident, we're warming to the Ford Mustang. It isn't perfect, but it does offer something unique in a typically turbocharged, four-cylinder fast car scene.

Is this the Eleanor look?

Much of the Mustang mystique is built on modifying though, so it's little surprise to see the tuners latch on to the latest model. Here's the newest, the CS800 from Sutton Bespoke Mustang. You may already be aware of Sutton and its imported US curios but, as you may have guessed, this section of the business focuses just on customising Mustangs.

While all sorts of mad and bad modifications are probably possible, this one centres on going fast. Really fast. Thanks to a Stage 2 Whipple supercharger, a bigger intercooler, new injectors, a larger throttle body and an entirely new exhaust this Mustang makes 800hp.

For this particular car there's also three-way adjustable suspension delivering "the optimum balance between stability and comfort". The brakes look bigger too, or at least they should, and the tyres are Bridgestone Potenza 5001s.

What does a V8 Mustang need? Another 380hp!

Inside there is carbon fibre (because what's a fast car without it?), new badges, a short-shift kit for the manual gearbox and, interestingly, Ford Performance Recaro seats that aren't available on UK cars. This being a show vehicle, it also has a 1,100w audio upgrade.

And the styling? Well the side skirts, front splitter, boot, spoiler and valance are carbon fibre at least, but we would understand if it's not exactly to everyone's taste. It's unclear yet whether the bodykit is a compulsory part of the CS800 upgrade. A standard looking car with 800hp could be interesting!

The CS800 is being shown for the first time at Top Marques in Monaco - where else? - over the next couple of days and is on sale now, priced from £64,950. Whether you like the look or not, that's a hell of a lot of power for the money. Don't forget there's that Santa Pod Sunday Service coming up...

I love the Mustang but I'm not really liking the styling on this car. Love the wheels though. But 800 bhp.... amazing. That'll be fun.
Is that £65K to buy the car and all the power? Incredible. You'll need another £65K over 3 years just for tyres.

Shame about the god awful body kit. Do they do a toned down variation with the same power?

No reason you cant have the engine power mods without the bodykit, plenty of supercharger kits available. Not sure if the bonnet scoop is beneficial. Few vids of yank stangs of this model running similar power, the in gear pull is insane, the speed at which you can take a crowd out really is a gamechanger.

he he... whipple.

That's a 25k (if you go for it all personally I'd lose the bodykit & keep the rest) saving over an M4 CS before options & with just as many smiles if not more coming from the Mustang driver (admittedly you'll achieve those smiles in different ways) I know they're aimed at different markets but it'd make an interesting comparison.

As referenced earlier, Mustangs mainly hit crowds of soft squishy people anyway, so as the driver you'll be pretty much fine physically.

Just as an aside, labelling of things as 'Stage x' is such a heap of marketing nonsense.

One of these in a retro, flat colour without the bodykit and ultra low profile tyres would do.

I presume you can spec one without the Airfix kit. Could pop a few egos round Harrods way hehe

Is the rear intake real or fake?

If real (for tranny cooler or similar) then bravo.
If fake, then all comments about airfix / halfords bodykit are justified.

800hp must be an absolute hoot, how does it go around a track compared to a porsche GT3, murdered in corners and winning on the straights I guess.

Article says FROM £65K and given that the Whipple installation would be circa £10K on it's own, the carbon body parts will be +£7K, seats are £3K (which are not heated despite the dash lights indicating they are, nor are they powered and the manual controls are on the wrong side for RHD cars), not sure what the £65K refers to. rofl

And yes, sleep

Ridiculously excessive! Love it. I'll take mines with the body kit please, it looks awesome.

It's going to be less than $100,000 as stated by FCA.

This frankly rather hideous Mustang is £80k.

About the same price, then.
