987 odd window behaviour
Discussion
First issue with my poverty pork.
On occasion (and predictably should the alarm be triggered), the drivers windows drops by an inch then raises again repeatedly.
The only way to stop it is to start the car.
Usually, you can then stop the engine and lock the car as normal without a repeat.
Any idea what's going on?
It mostly behaves itself when getting in/out, dropping once as you'd expect.

The window drop is controlled by three microswitches depending on the situation; inner door handle, outer door handle and door lock/catch.
Easy ones first: check the inner handle is seating correctly and that the microswitch protrudes enough for the handle to make adequate contact. Check the door catch switch by rolling the catch over slowly (you can do it with your finger), push up to the safety catch then just after the initial click the window should park 'up'; failure of the catch switch usually occurs in the final closed position so if you get a bouncing result just as it clicks again the issue is likely the catch.
The outer handle has a switch mounted on a bracket inside the door and requires stripping the door to check/inspect so hopefully you can ID the issue beforehand - though any of the three will mean the door panel must be removed at the very least.
It is also possible it could be something else; If the window is/was frozen or stuck to the seal (cold or left for a while?) then the window will attempt to drop and cycle until it either releases or reaches its thermal cut-out threshold (and is a normal function of the comfort drop).
