Anyway in particular to do this? Some tooth floss to cut throw the glue then maybe a hair dryer and tar remover to get rid of the glue residue?

A friend says it will devalue the car, but I think the giant "P O R S C H E" letters on the back look awful especially when next to the lovely italic Cayman S badge.

I agree .Will not devalue anything .I removed the Boxster and just left Spyder on the 987 looks so much nicer and neater and easier to clean.
Would have done it with the 981 but unfortunately the rear has been Gtecniq so would have to have the whole rear end re done as I am sure you would still see the letters.

Heat up the badge first with the hairdryer and/ or if we are lucky and the weather stays fine just park it arse to the sun for an hour.

Floss is ok for getting under the letters or an old bank card is my fave.

It's very easy to scratch the paint. Use some detailing spray to help avoid that (something like what you would use when claying the car).

Be patient with the tar remover, it will need a few applications.

Take your time, there will be a moment halfway through when you'll wish you hadn't started!

Personally I prefer the P O R S C H E to the model badge but each to their own. I do think they need something on the back, the ones I've seen completely de-badged don't quite look right to my eye.

There are defo too many badges on the current iteration across the whole range. 911 Carrera 4 GTS probably takes the prize!

Good luck and put a photo up when you're done smile

That reminds me, years ago I used a caramel / toffee wheel to remove the glue on previous cars.

I'll buy one of them!

Ah that is a good point about the centre-ing woollyjoe, you have got my OCD there LOL.

That reminds me of this video, about 4:30 in you can see the templates they use to get everything in the right place in a fantastic piece of German attention to detail...

Got to laugh at 'devaluing the car', the badge cost £50 so worst case scenario just buy and refit at sale time

Ok so I debadged the car.

I used some dental floss which cut through the glue very easily, I then tried using tardis to remove the glue but it didn't really work.

I then tried using a caramel/toffee wheel and this effective but my drill battery was knackered, in the end I got the remaining glue off with a nibbing tool used to scrape off excess paint and then I finished it off with a machine polish.

I would say dont use the nibbing tool though as it has damaged the paint slightly, but not really noticeable unless you look specifically.

I am happy with the new look though, now the appalling P O R S C H E has gone.

I left Cayman S, I think it looks much better and classier.

Just to let people know who may be considering this, I have since gone back on my previous thoughts.

I regret doing the debadge as the rear looks a bit bare and the Cayman S badge i left looks lost.

But AT £65 I wont be replacing it, oh well at least the tail gate is easy to keep clean.

Went for the 'delete model name/number' option on mine.

I like the clean look. And as the man says, easier to wash!
