Anyone with recent experience of using HIC (Herts insurance)

Been reading reviews of these guys dated around 2013/14 and they don't seem too good. They seem like cowboys specially when it comes to making amendments. HIC(Herts insurance consultants) are attractive because they have given me a very very competitive price.
So has anyone dealt with these guys lately?

So have you dealt with these guys? I have heard of a few cases with Adrian flux where if you wish to cancel mid-term you still owe them the remaining premium + cancellation fee which is a no nocraigjm said:

Sister company according to a sales adviser for Adrian Flux I spoke to on the phone last week.I have mixed opinions of HIC. I bought my Trans Am policy through them last year as they were the most competitive on price while still offering a decent level of cover. I haven't had any problems during the year although I haven't needed to cancel or make any amendments, nor have I been involved in a crash - so haven't had to deal with them too much.
The problem comes that although I have been an easy customer to deal with; when looking to get a quote on my Supra they quoted a ridiculous price. I was hoping for better as I have an active policy with them. The renewal for the Trans Am is soon so we shall see if they try to take the piss on price then.
If they've offered you a competitive price though, I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing.
I'm with HIC, it appears to basically be adrianflux, they have exactly the same automated telephone system and hold music (and operating hours).
They're ok (I don't have a huge amount of choice with my car) - but I would say their "agreed valuation" isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
I suspect it's a different brand inside the same company.

I was insured with them for many years when I was a fair bit younger as they were consistently the cheapest (which is what matters when you're early 20s and skint)
I never had occasion to claim or do anything other than pay my premium so my experience is limited but I view them positively

I have used HIc Insurance and have found them to be unhelpful and incredibly difficult to contact. Even when I have managed to get through to them and this has taken over half an hour on a number of occasions they have passed me around from department to department and still not been able to resolve my problem.
Their customer service operators do not appear to know how to deal with some easy queries. Finally, having managed to do what I needed them to they sent me a letter demanding payment. As I didn't respond immediately (within a week) I was sent another threatening letter. I find this highly unnecessary as I have been swift in contacting them each time and they have not responded to me.
Their renewal price was very high and their service very very poor. I would not use them again and would unfortunately not be able to recommend them to anyone else due to their very poor service and ability to respond appropriately and in a timely fashion to queries.

am a new driver looking for First Time Insurance I requested a call back to be put through to some Guy In sales that seemed like he was still In school/Collage After giving first name and Last name The customer service guy hung the phone up. Called back and asked to be put through to manger/supervisor to make a complaint had to wait 20 mins to be put through to someone was answered By a female who had a attitude from the start she told me that i cud not make a complaint as i didn't have a policy with them or a quote
HOW CAN YOU GET A QUOTE WHEN THE PERSON YOU ASKED TO CALL BACK FOR A QUOTE PUTS THE PHONE DOWN) so i said that i didn't have a postcode as i was asked to have a a call back online she had a real attitude and tried talking over me so i again asked if the supervisor was going to call back to be told same thing eventually i told them in detail what they cud do with there Insurance quote in GRAPHIC DETAIL

Not the best start admittedly but calls do get dropped without human intervention sometimes. Pity you then took umbrage and didn't give a postcode as that's part of the information needed to give a quote. Had a terrible experience when claiming, but this was over 10 years ago so things might have improved.
I tried to make a complaint and after 6 months of chasing I was finally sent a call recording which in my opinion upheld my complaint, but in their opinion it did not and then that was that. Throughout the procedure I was never made to feel like a paying customer, I was made to feel like they were doing me a favour akin to letting me bang each employee's mother.

Ciaran was excellent, he is friendly and knowledgeable. I have a unusual vehicle which was no problem, I gave my details and received a great quote. It was no hassle at all to set the policy up and with people who know what they are doing even with a vehicle that’s not your average car. Highly recommend using HIC for your insurance.
