Labatt's BTCC cars: Pic Of The Week

Reuniting two classic racers for one classic desktop background

Sporting the original Labatt's liveries they both wore during the 1989 and 1991 BTCC seasons respectively, the subjects of our Pic Of The Week were both raced by Tim Harvey, with varying degrees success. Harvey managed a third in class finish driving the Ford Sierra RS500 you see before you, and eighth overall in the BMW M3, a car which he credits with setting up his championship winning run the following year in another BMW.

Both cars are up for sale at the Silverstone Classic Race Car sale on July 27th and each comes with an entry to the Silverstone Classic two days later.

Good thing the RS500 is said to be in "race-ready condition" then and is apparently the only surviving example still in original BTCC spec. The M3, meanwhile, is described as being "fiercely competitive" meaning prospective owners won't have too much to do to either before they go racing. Estimates are anywhere between £140,000 and £220,000 - so we'll be keeping a keen eye on the pair, and now you can too!

RS500 is in 1990 livery. Anyway what an awesome pair of cars. Hope they won't end up locked up somewhere never to be seen again.

Is that 220K for the pair, or one?

440K for both seems extremely ambitious and frankly speaking, poor value.

Didn't the R32GTR take a big steaming d*mp over these two back in the day?

Simmer down, Jap lad. Didn't the GT-R LM Nismo Le Mans car get destroyed in 2015? Same principle.
