I require a new jack, my cheapo ECP one has had it. I have 2 fairly low cars, so looking at low profile too.

I've read mixed reviews about the SGS ones, but they have a deal on the 3 Ton low profile for £70, so wanted some fresh opinions. Ideally don't want to spend more than £50, but will stretch to this if it's a deal.

ETA: It really needs a detachable handle, as it lives in my house.

I have the 3 ton non low entry jack. Thing's a beast, would highly recommend them. My only gripe is the weight of it laugh

I have this "Lightweight" one, which is still a hefty beast. Absolutely love it, wish I'd bought it years ago instead of pissing around with a cheap, st jack.

I've been really impressed with the Liftmaster race jacks. The 2.5 ton versions have twin pumps and can lift a car with very few swings of the handle.

Might be slightly over budget though, but worth the extra few quid

I was also looking to spend around £50 earlier this year. But upon researching the options I decided to buy something a bit more proven and reliable. I plumped for one of these, which provides very low entry indeed:

I found one for £110 including delivery, so shop around.

It gets used most weekends, including at race circuits. Whilst quite hefty to load into and out of the tow car, it's very solid and doesn't flex like the aluminium ones. A few large swings of the arm and the car is high up in the air, with loads of room to place the axle stands on their highest setting.

If you can live with 2.5 tonne, these are quite good (and cheap)https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-ctj2250lp-2-25-tonne-low-profile-trolle/

I have one of these and it works well, the long nose slips under the kit car's sills and will lift high enough to easily get axle stands in place.

Spec on that is quite good (74mm-515mm) as many of the low entry jacks don't lift that high - ideal for 4x4 or when lifting onto axle stands

But do they post it in a lead box ?

I have this:

http://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj2-5lp-low-profile...

Recommended. Only downside is the weight.

Being slightly lower profile than the 'normal' low profile jacks really makes a difference - I can go straight for the centre of the front subframe on both my cars.

That doesn't look particularly "low profile" to me. I don't think a 130mm entry height would go under our Octavia let alone our Elise.

I've got this one:

http://www.sgs-engineering.com/garage-equipment/tr...

It's a beast. It did start sinking a bit the second time I used it, a quick call to SGS and they explained how to bleed it (instructions weren't great) and it's been fine ever since.

Unless the Costco I was in last night had a reduced range, I think its 2 ton only

I have this one, it's excellent, and fits under my lowered GT86, which is no mean feat!

Halfords sell a low profile one, I know people like to mock halfords at their quality.. However they will happily replace products without much.

my mate has an sgs low entry jack, it will go under most cars but did struggle with a mk1 focus rs.

the costco jack does look pretty solid but it seems taller (not as low) than the sgs jack
