Probably a few reasons, firstly the U2 is from 1957 and the official unified designation scheme started in 1962, also the first planes were actually a CIA project and not any of the services, although they were operated by the USAF.

The later production run of the U2 were officially called TR-1A so do fit in the R for reconnaissance part. As I said in my post above there's lots of oddities like this in the naming system and it's actually a much more interesting subject than you'd initially think.

Anyway let's not derail this discussion too much so we can all get back to calling Trump a graceless tt muffin
I can see Trump making a speech about the benefits of continuing to fund the U2, and hoping that Bono was suitably grateful.

The cancellation reflects worse on Britain than it does on Trump.

Emphasises Britain's status as a fading small power.

The UK is no longer a must-visit nation on the international circuit.

The real embarrassment are the sneering pseudo-intellectuals who think alienating Britain's biggest investor and protector is a smug move.

UK is a nation of utter, utter morons frown

Does it? Most of the departments are run by slightly saner people who get on with their jobs whenever he opens his mouth and f*cks a situation over. Yes he can direct some policy (maybe) but he's not doing the day to work and the people who do aren't messing up their own country on the whim of mr monkey.

RS? Was that a Ford jet?
American military aircraft assigned to the reconnaissance role always have an "R" prefix. Examples would be the RB-29, RB-50, RC-135 etc. - all modified version of existing bomber or transport types.

Logically, Lockheed's new reconnaissance aircraft would have been designated "RS-71" but instead it emerged as the "SR-71". Johnson has been given the blame for this although it is not altogether clear whether this is warranted. "Black Projects" like the SR-71" have often been given designations deliberately meant to confuse.
So is it a Ford or not?
No, it's a Nissan jet.

After his presidency, will the the staff be under an obligation of secrecy about the shenanigans in the White House under him? It will be an amazing story if it could be told. The ratings would be YUUGE
I wonder if the "Rogue WH Snr Advisor" is even vaguely genuine. It is entertaining and I want to believe it is genuine.

It's a brilliant move on our part. We get to avoid the cost and keep a buffoon out of the country. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Plus dont forget that the UK economy is MASSIVELY bigger than the Russian economy. You know, the one you are sitting in at the moment smile

Plus if he does retaliate against use we just repossess his golf courses.

Sigh - the immigrant thing isn't racist. It is in reality much worse than that. It is Donald once again displaying not just a total ignorance of history but not caring.

The day when an American president willfully turned his back on a founding principle of his country frown
No longer the Shining City on the Hill. frown

What an ignorant, misanthropic bd he is. A New Yorker who has clearly never visited the Statue of Liberty, on which is inscribed:

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Exactly to what I was referring frown
Forget the blah blah blah bks about kneeling or black deaths or the pretend racism crap.

  • That* is what Donald Trump has now turned his back on and by extension, trying to argue for America turning its back on. This should depress a lot more ppl than all his previous blather.
He just pissed on the Statue of Liberty. Think about the implications of that for a minute. frown

HM Government, DPG and the local council might be relieved about not having to put up security and police protests and demonstrations.

Perhaps France might wish to confiscate it until he's out?

He doesn't care though, and why would we expect anything different from him - he's an old, slightly racist misogynist who's grown up with a silver spoon in his mouth, mostly got his own way and hasn't had to ever answer for much.. The idea that he'd even be able to conceptualise, let alone understand the Statue of Liberty phrase, let alone empathise with it anyone who has ever been within a 'huddled mass', is frankly crazy.. Hi lives (and always has) lived in a different world..

You may be aware of this already but just in case you're not....

The US will protect Britain up to (and only up to) the point it is in the US's interests to do so. Us kow-towing, genuflecting, or demeaning ourselves in any other way at The Altar of Trump will not make one iota of difference.

Secondly, have you considered having some dignity or self-respect? The man's an imbecile and loathed by most of his own countrymen and most of the civilised world. Yet you think we should be humble and servile to the loathsome sack of congealed whaleship simply because you think he's going to "protect us"? Given that his tongue is lodged deep within Putin's rectum who exactly do you think he is going to protect us from?

Yours sneeringly, a pseudo intellectual.

Indeed, and when he is finally rejected by the USA and fully recognised for the festering crock of st that he is, would it look good that the UK was sucking his ballsack the whole time (and as he jerked off Russia)?

Seems Boris is unhappy that our elected officials are not afraid to speak their minds.

And convinced that members of the minority opposition party have more power over our foreign affairs than himself, the Foreign Secretary in government.

Like him or (more likely) loath him he is both the most powerful man in the world and extremely petty.

The French made a fuss over him and gave him a lovely lunch on top the Eiffel tower. He cant even visit us because of the protests that would result smile

Relations between countries also depend on people.
