The Dick Inn. A perfect council name.
Reminds me of the old joke -
Do you like Dickens ?
I wouldn't know, I've never been to one

or

Do you like Kipling ?
I don't know, I've never Kipled

Placing your worldly goods into Storage, and not taking out additional insurance, then expecting the Storage company to replace everything when the building storing the unit burns down.

Build your own flat roof pub.
I actually like how that looks inside, wouldn't mind a bar like that for myself.

The exterior is not so appealing though.

Makes you wonder where her and her baby were living!

Ammar Kazmi, 27, a refugee who has been renting his Shurgard unit for almost two years, also lost everything in the fire. He said: ‘I am still in shock and the items in there are irreplaceable. I rent a single room and so needed the extra space ‘I lost my gold coin collection and memorable items from childhood. A suitcase full of books, my laptop, my guitar and important documents.

He did very well to escape with all that from where ever he came here to claim asylum from scratchchin

Apparently that went up on New Year's Eve. The roads around it still had closures in place and the fire brigade were still hosing it down 48 hours later when I went to Ikea next door. Bloody traffic nightmare! Can I claim compensation for lost time? hehe

I do feel sorry for people who lost everything though. Not the "I didn't take out insurance so who's going to compensate me" brigade but the "I had all my childhood photos, etc, in there for a couple of weeks whilst we were moving home" people where no insurance can every replace what they've lost.

Curiosity got the better of me and i clicked a link on that paper's website.

WTF is a Mrs Hinch?

Watch the embedded video - it's a journey down a rabbit hole into an alternative reality, one with painted on eyebrows and plastic finger nails....

This reminds me - at a local petrol station this week I saw a haggard looking couple standing by a 68-reg little Vauxhall thing (clearly a Motability car) arguing over whether to put £7 or £8 of fuel into it...

After drip-drip-dripping to £7 exactly, she drip-drip-dripped it up to £8 exactly.

"You're a dead man walking" seems to be the wrong threat to use on a man who uses a mobility scooter.

It's a bizarre look but very popular. I wonder if they have to paint their face on an egg to register and copyright it like clowns do?

No I've got kids and if mine did that and someone didn't beat the living st out of them and then me and then the little bds again, I'd be very very disappointing.

Little sts and their parents!

That's hardly a huge volume of stuff to leg it with and he could have acquired possessions after arriving. Not a fair criticism IMO. Grabbing some heirlooms, your laptop, some books and guitar before fleeing a war zone is not council. Grabbing the sky box, your stash of B&H and a flashing santa while leaving the books would be.

Surely the gold coin collection wouldn’t be destroyed though?? And it’s not the normal item in storage for someone of that age who has fled a war zone and renting a bed sit?? Seems odd to me.
