Hi I wondered if anyone had any dealings with them recently and if so they could let me know what they think of their work. Many thanks

Hi Bentley01, S&D resprayed my Tuscan a couple of years ago.
I felt they were very professional and did a great job.
No hesitation recommending them.

One of the journo's in Classic & Sports Car had a Scimitar re-sprayed by them a couple or 3 years ago.

He was very impressed with the end result.

Likewise, great bunch of guys at S&D, David and the team did a fantastic job on my Cerbera earlier this year, resprayed in Chameleon Blue. Dave and Chris next door, D&C Trim, also did a superb job replacing the carpet. A great one stop shop for all your desires. Highly recommended.

Thanks a lot for the replies. It is always better to hear first hand of how people have found them.

Sorry to be the fly in the ointment with all the above gushing reviews. Like you I wanted to use them, having read how good the work was, for the front end respray following a minor bump that cause hairline cracks in the paint. I also wanted a new windscreen fitted.
So I rang them and spoke to a very nice man (David maybe? he had a Suzuki van he talked a lot about)) who said they would be happy to do the work. I told the insurance company who were also happy. So I called the nice man again and he asked me to send lots of photos so they had an idea. I did this and waited. Nothing. No email reply. No phone call. So I called again with promises to get in touch blah blah. Nothing. Emailed again just to make sure. Same response so kicked them into touch and went with RT Racing in Sheffield.
They may well be fantastic paint finishers but their customer service is hopeless.

They may be very good at spraying, if they can match the colour. But they aint the best at putting bits back on your car.

I agree with you on email, they are not the best at answering emails, you can however always get hold of them on the phone. I do find this fairy standard across TVR related business none I have dealt with seem to be excel at admin or answering emails. I personally don't mind doing a bit of chasing here and there if I am confident on their ability to deliver a good job.

I think for a lot of these specialists the people who answer the phone and reply to emails are the same people who do the actual work so the admin side can get neglected when they are busy.

Off Topic - the before and after stats on that turbo kit are certainly impressive on your car N7GTX. I can safely say that before the upgrade you car would be a fair bit slower than mine, but after - WOW! that will literally piss all over my tuned 500. That is a lot of bang for the buck! 481 ft/lbs - and at the wheels as well!!!! I bet that focuses the minds somewhat.

I've had multiple jobs done with David and the guys and would highly recommend them, yes their were mistakes as there are in every business but the important thing is always how those hurdles are overcome, and I've always been left happy with the finished project and left fairly treated! And trust me its not easy or cheap getting to and from Blackpool from SW London especially when you get stuck in snow on 888's on a mountain side for 5 hours but the time and money were always well spent!

They carried out some repairs for me on my T350 following a minor incident a couple of years ago and did a great job repairing the wheel arch and colour matching/respraying the side of the car and I was pretty pleased with that.

However a couple of the minor scratches that occurred in the same incident they merely touched up and look a bit st if you look for it. Also the black trim around the rear window and the bolt covers for the hinges had been abraded, presumably as a result of being masked off during the spraying process and also look a bit crap now. Admittedly these are both very minor issue and the bulk of the job was well done so no real complaints but also room for improvement!

Out of interest, do you chaps drive to far-flung specialists and make your way home (and vice-versa to collect) or do you have cars transported?
It's the hassle of transport that usually has me opting for outfits closer bye.

Mate of mine travelled up to S&D from Kent for a respray and interior refit in his Chimaera a few years back. He drove the car there, trained back, waited X weeks, then trained back up and drove home. He loves driving and made the journey(s) part of the experience. Pretty sure he took a co-pilot for company.

I've even heard of people building holidays around such work. Drive to the specialist, book into a hotel, see the sights, then collect the car and drive home. Not really viable if it's a 6 week job, I guess. You could always hire a cheap run-around while there.

I've started @5am and dropped various cars off at Bristol Avenue ~9am five or six times now and then got the train back south. Got to know Blackpool North pretty well!
