Jaguar XE SV Project 8: Pic of the Week
Jag's 600hp supersaloon in all its Valencia Orange glory
Hopefully you'll have had a chance to read our first drive of Jaguar's new Project 8 supersaloon by now, and hopefully you'll agree that its existence is a fantastic thing. (If not then go and take a look now, we'll wait...)
A four-door saloon putting out 600hp and 516lb ft from a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 can never be a bad thing, after all. And, while it may technically be four-wheel drive, the majority of the time all that power is going to the rear wheels only. Zero to sixty is taken care of it just 3.7 seconds, and a 200mph top speed - once the realm of only the very fastest supercars - is said to be achievable.
Whether it looks as good as it goes is another thing. It's undeniably striking, all aggressive intakes, flared arches and big wings, but it's certainly not classically pretty. It's still POTW-worthy, though, because every one of those lips, sills and spoilers is functional, contributing to the car's incredible performance, and in that knowledge lies the beauty of the Project 8.
What can possibly be a downside of creating a halo model with a stonking, supercharged V8?
