Looks great.

I’ve just had a look at pro sport coil overs. A google search seems to show them as ridiculously inexpensive (sub £250) I’ll be interested to hear how you get on with them.

How was the previous shock/spring set-up? I’ve recently but a tcr splitter on my Octavia and now it needs lowering but as it’s the family car I can’t have it crashy or uncomfortable. It also needs to be suitable for poor country roads so I can’t have it too low either.

Looks really good that mate!

Do you not miss the engine in the BMW though? I’ve swapped from a 2.0 four pot derv to a 3.0 six pot (both F30 3 series) and the six pot is so much smoother with more power and torque with a more linear delivery. Think I’d struggle to go back the other way.

Not intending to hijack this thread but I've got a mk2.5 estate that I've just put H&R springs on (-45mm kit) and the ride height is a decent drop (looks similar to the OP's ride height prior to coilovers) and the ride is good also.

Previous shock/spring setup was excellent, and even with the splitter it very rarely caught over speedbumps.

I have lowered every car i've ever owned (please dont judge me) and the Prosport coilovers are the best bang-for-buck ones i've ever used (and i've used every set you can imagine - from £150 to £900 setups).

To be fair the setup I have on it is rather low, but it still drives well. It does catch over speed bumps etc if I go too quickly, but i'm used to slowing down etc.

Cheers dude!

I do miss the BMW engine. Got a hankering for a F10 535d wagon next. Im a big lad and the 3 series do nothing for me.

The Skoda is definitely lighter and more nimble though, but just doesn't have the torque of the E60 530d I had.

Just browsed through this thread over lunch and you've inspired me to look into one of these for daily duties in the future!

I previously had a B8 A4 with the same CR170 engine which had a map at 210bhp & 344ft/lbs, but it was about 300-350kg heavier than yours! Still felt pokey for a daily diesel so yours I can imagine being really nippy, and more responsive being FWD not Quattro.

How's the fuel economy on it? did a couple Europe drives/road trips in mine and being Quattro it suffers a bit. Used to get about 46mpg on a run.

Theres something cool about a black estate!

Hey dude. Love the B8! Fancied one of them previously!

MPG is good. I see 45mpg generally and i'm not the most sympathetic driver!

I love my wagons. Can't imagine life without an estate nowadays..

20mm all round works well!

Thanks a lot - appreciate that.

Regarding the paint - I did a 3 stage machine polish on it not too long ago. It gets washed at least once a week now too..

I'm on the hunt for some spacers....my mind made up!

I need to get me one of them there machine polishers! My orbital Halfords special is crap on black.

Do you think 20mm spacers would be a bit much on a lowered one of these? Your 15mm ones look good but some pictures make them look as though they're not sticking out as much as others.
Thanks

No worries Darren!

I actually raised mine up 15mm recently to make it a bit more driveable down country lanes. These are the results (on a foggy morning survey the other day on site):

· Freshmodsuk number plates (personalised)

· LED number plate lights

And most recent pics, sideskirt fitting:

Speaking to AWTuning (Skoda specialists) regarding a turbo upgrade currently. The CR170's biggest limitation on tuning is the fuelling - but I should be able to see circa 270bhp with the DPF out and a better turbo.

Cheers

Fitted a RAMAIR induction kit the other day:

It has made some difference to throttle response, and sounds a bit better!

After fitting me and a few friends went for a spirited drive and I snapped a pic:

I've now had a quote through for the following:

Turbo removal
Turbo rebuild to hybrid
DPF emptying/refit
Turbo re-install
Custom mapping

So this is likely to happen in the next couple of months. Still impressed by how capable this car is, ticks a lot of boxes!

Looking good!

Have you had any thoughts of upgrading to a Quaife or Wavetrac diff? I've got a petrol 2012 and find it a bit too eager to spin up one wheel.

Funny you should say that.

If I go ahead with the hybrid, I will definitely be getting a quaife. Even with just a map at the moment I am spinning up in 3rd (when wet) and i'm only running 220bhp. Saying that, the torque is doing it!

I believe there is a golf LSD that fits directly to the box so I will investigate...

I love this.

And now I have an urge for my own black, lightly modified VAG estate, none of which I have ever wanted before in my life!

Great work.

Have to say it's a bloody good car, moved mattresses and big workbenches already. And drives lovely, I do miss RWD coming from a 1 series but will get another fun car next year. Very smooth power delivery although got a few upgrades planned wink
