Bowler confirms new model for October launch

Latest Evoque with four-cylinder proj... only joking, it's like a Defender with a huge V8. Of course

The Defender isn't dead! Well, at least not if you're Bowler that is, the company set to reveal its latest creation in October that's very clearly inspired by the eponymous Land Rover.

See this car, like many other Bowlers, is based on the firm's Cross Sector Platform architecture, and so isn't any old modified Land Rover. The video on Bowler's website very obviously confirms the car will be V8 powered, but other than that details are very hard to come by at present.

"Bowler is no stranger to designing and manufacturing precision engineered, hand built and highly capable vehicles that stand out from the crowd in performance, strength and style", it says on the preview page, Bowler appearing not to deviate far from the type of car its success has been built on.

Autocar, however, is suggesting that the latest Bowler will be far more of a road car than the very overtly off-road-focused models that have preceded it. Could it really be that the demand for road-biased SUVs is so great even Bowler must relent and join the ranks? We'll find out soon, as the conjecture currently surrounding the car will be addressed by Bowler with previews and technical snippets ahead of the October reveal.

What do we reckon, then? Is Bowler about to embrace the Chelsea Truck Company style of 4x4 modification, or will this be the kind of barmy off-roader Bowler has become famous for? We're only a couple of months from finding out but, if the Bowler itch must be scratched while the sun's still shining, check out the PH classifieds: this Bulldog is basically brand new, and this Nemesis has FIA competition provenance...

I don't see a live axle under the front.

I believe the Bulldog and Nemesis also both run IFS so probably the same route for this new one too.
Perhaps it's how they achieve the insane amounts of suspension travel.

Long live this kinds of automotive project! Pretty soon we'll all be whizzing around on self-driven battery packs, which for the motorway will be fine, but it won't half make a country road boring.

They've already made road versions of at least one model. The EXR being one.
