Falken 911 GT3 R: Pic of the Week

Another 911 win at the Nurburgring, but this one is a little more special than most

Alright, Porsche 911 on the Nordschleife may not seem like the most interesting or original story in the world. However, there's a little more to the Falken GT3 R that you see here than meets the eye.

Last weekend this car, driven by Martin Ragginger and Klaus Bachler, won round six of the 2018 VLN. Not only that, it set a new VLN lap record in the process, recording a staggering 7:56.259 on the full 15.1-mile layout. Then just to top off a fine weekend, the Falken BMW M6 of Stef Dusseldorp and Alexandre Imperatori finished in second place, Falken's first ever one-two in more than 20 years of VLN competition.

A momentous occasion then, and all the excuse we need to feature the victorious car as Pic of the Week. A motorsport 911 jumping kerbs at the Nordschleife will always make for a wallpaper-worthy image; that this one has some real significance for the VLN and Falken makes it all the more so. Bravo all!

What a lovely sight.

Makes up for the eye-searing pain caused by the BMW X2 M35i in an article higher up the home page. Car design is a challenging business, clearly.

Lovely pic. Lovely car. Great result. But did you see who was on pole? In only his second outing in a GT3 car, and his second VLN event, David Pittard put the Walkenhorst Racing M6 GT3 Pro-Am car on the top spot! Epic achievement. Now that's what I call special.....
