Every time a new BMW is released it kicks off a frothing rant on here about the styling.
Each time I have but one word to respond, China.
We are no longer there centre of the universe, get used to it.

last year I spent a week visiting friends in NorCal tooling around in a Chevy Tahoe, which felt like driving the USS Nimitz compared to my X5, and yet the Tahoe was certainley not the biggest SUV around by any stretch..........and yet in the USA's vastness of road size, the Tahoe didn't feel large at all.
The yanks have been screaming for a BMW SUV bigger than the X5 for years.

I can't decide which is ugliest: this, the Rolls Cullinan, or the Bentayga.
I've just decided: it's this. What the fk! Who would look at that and think "yes, this is a good looking car and I would like to be seen in one!".
No, I can't afford one. And no, I wouldn't buy one even if I had unlimited cash in my wallet.
Many of us can't afford one, but that doesn't stop us dreaming...I've just decided: it's this. What the fk! Who would look at that and think "yes, this is a good looking car and I would like to be seen in one!".

In the same way as the gaping Audi grille that we all thought enormous all those years ago, everyone will just get used to this. I think the front is ugly, but it will become normal.
The interior looks great with genuinely usable third row seating (our 12 year old has had enough of the third row in the X5).

The new Lincoln Navigator puts its target market into perspective.
Makes UK attempts to cut greenhouse emissions by forcing everyone into 1.2 litre turbo hybrids seem a little pointless.
It's creeping in over there too; V8s are now almost exclusive to diesel trucks and what once may have had a petrol V8 option is now a V6 (looking at you, Ford). Start of the slippery slope for the US.Makes UK attempts to cut greenhouse emissions by forcing everyone into 1.2 litre turbo hybrids seem a little pointless.

The amount of doughnuts commenting that it’s an ‘unnecessary vehicle’ are, clearly, those that neither have the family or the finances to own one. That’s not to say they aren’t entitled to an opinion but I can almost guarantee it’ll change once they find themselves with four kids and a partner to COMFORTABLY haul about (emphasis on the word ‘comfort’)
I’ve already got my name down for one ,albeit in completely blacked out M-sport guise, to replace our trusty 7 seater X5.
Having used a current X5 for a while for continental travel, I don't blame you. A brilliant choice indeed. Plus it really upsets the chip on shoulder type o n PH, so why not ? I’ve already got my name down for one ,albeit in completely blacked out M-sport guise, to replace our trusty 7 seater X5.
I am all for choice anyway, the more the better, no one has to buy one.

And, obviously, I don’t know you or your financial situation but are you seriously telling me you’d be happy with a Ford regardless of the model if you could comfortably afford a BMW?
It has nothing to do with ‘badge snobbery’ (AKA the I’m-jealous-of-what-you’ve-got mentality) but all to do with real world experiences.
Delighted that the first one to own up to ordering one of these manages to tick pretty much all the boxes for the target demographic. It has nothing to do with ‘badge snobbery’ (AKA the I’m-jealous-of-what-you’ve-got mentality) but all to do with real world experiences.

What a plum.Awesome.
I look forward to seeing these being horrifically parallel parked in Leigh on Sea by a tiny woman that's been badgering her husband, who works in the City for one for ages, but only now realises that a Fiesta would have been handier for driving around town.
I also look for to seeing these in 15 years time with the wheels at 85 degrees to the road, a la early X5's, being driven in an aggressive manner by a larger gentleman with tattoos and lax attitude to VED, MOT's and insurance policies.

Not read this thread, but I'm guessing it's just a direct copy of the Cullinan thread. Cliched stereotypes about footballers/arabs/pointless/school run/too big/estate cars are better/etc.
But those poster who care so little about SUVs that they can't stop complaining about them are missing some vital facts.
Full-Size SUV sales are increasing by almost 15% per annum, around 400,000 units in America alone (dominated by the Suburban/Tahoe) and approaching 1,000,000 units worldwide.
The Merc GL sells well around the world (around 100,000 units), as do the Suburban, Escalade, Yukon & Navigator. BMW would be crazy not to get in on the act.
None of the above are really aimed at the UK Market (although Merc sell around 5,000 GLs per year in Europe, the UK being their 2nd biggest European market).

I wonder if this has much in common with the RR cullinan when you peal back the styling and bodywork.
It's better looking than the Rolls.I'm fighting my Land Rover Fan Boy self which wants me to hate this while still living something as pointless as the SV Coupe Range Rover.
Huge grille aside, I don't think this is a bad looking truck at all.
I find myself wrong to the current BMW line up. Someone left a new X3 outside my house the other day. I liked it
